One Day presentation

 1. 1. One Woman ‘One Day’ 48 copies
2. 2. What Is World Book Night?
(Their blurb)
With the full support of the Publishers Association, the Booksellers Association, the Independent Publishers Guild, the Reading Agency with libraries, World Book Day and the BBC, one million books will be given away by an army of passionate readers to members of the public across the UK and Ireland – and you could be one of them!
3. 3. What is World Book Night?
(My blurb)
It’s a celebration of adult reading (not like that!)
Takes place March 2011.
There’s nothing expected of us, no reviews, no feedback forms, nothing - I think they hope we’ll read the book though.
4. 4. However....
We could have a book group in real life or on Goodreads.
And/ Or, we could try to find a way to shoehorn geekery in by setting a challenge such as:

Inventing a mobile app that solves a character’s problem
 5. 5. Producing a twitter summary/ review

What’s the book?
6. 6. Why would I read it?
Because you haven’t read fiction in years.
Because you read loads of fiction but you haven’t read this.
Because it sounds like something you might read and maybe the Mrs/ Mr would too.
Because Nick Hornby liked it...?
Because I have 48 copies and they’re all free!
7. 7. What do reviews say?
“I was hesitant about this novel because it seemed like a romance novel, but I picked it up because it came up on several "best books of the year list". I'm glad I did. “
8. 8. “A hilarious and realistic love story. Excellent characterizations, Nicholls captures life's ups and downs so well and tells Emma and Dexter's stories through snapshots on one day over the course of twenty years.”
9. 9. “Am I the only male who read this book? Am I the only person who enjoyed it? Odd.”
10. 10. “This is a real-life romance novel. No fluff, no fantasy. “
11. 11. “Really entertaining fluff. ”
12. 12. So what next?
If you want to take part, please let me know today or email me at and I’ll make sure when the copies arrive, that you get one.
13. 13. P.S.
Post GIST-Mag, I spoke to a (male non-geek) friend of mine and his friend (also male) was raving about this book the other day and saying he had to read it, so there’s another good review for you.
Give it a try 
