  2. 2. <ul><li>Comparing two things or people we use the comparative forms of the adjectives . </li></ul><ul><li>-Ali is taller than Ayşe. </li></ul><ul><li>-This room is bigger than that room. </li></ul><ul><li>-I am older than you. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>We use –er for short words(one syllable) </li></ul><ul><li>Cheap-cheaper,fast-faster,large-larger,thin-thinner,old-older,strong-stronger,nice-nicer </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Turkey is bigger than England. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Erzurum is colder than Isparta. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>A rabbit is faster than a tortoise. </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>We also use –er for two syllables words that end in –y(-y drops –ier comes) </li></ul><ul><li>Luck y- luck ier/ happ y -happ ier /eas y -eas ier /prett y -prett ier </li></ul>

  14. 14. SUPERLATIVES <ul><li>Julia is taller than Mary. </li></ul><ul><li>Mary is taller than Lucy. </li></ul><ul><li>Mary is the tallest . </li></ul><ul><li>Lucy is the shortest . </li></ul>
  15. 15. <ul><li>We use –est for superlative forms of adjectives.(for short adjectives-one syllable)And we normally use the before a superlative. </li></ul><ul><li>Big- the biggest/long-the longest/tall-the tallest/short-the shortest/old-the oldest/large-the largest </li></ul>
