    • M@bile 2009 Many of the smartphones available on the market now come with smaller screen, thus obliging users to scroll horizontally be- tween left and right, besides the scrolling in vertical direction, in order to see the com- plete web content. QCM-330’s widescreen solves this problem as it sports a 4-inch widescreen display of 1:1.25 aspect ratio, the standard 1280x1024 resolution of PC display, thus making the visual experiences via mobile phone the same as PC.User needs only to scroll up and down to see web content, delivering better mobile internet experience. 005 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 006
    • * It’s a Smart-phone , but not as you know it QCM-330 is designed for highly mobile internet users. It aims to let users oper- ate it in an intuitive way. Thus, the de- signer uses a silver circle to contour the display area, clearly separates the touch screen and the navi key area. 007 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 008
    • The phone’s hand-grip part, the slightly slanted sur- face on the lower-right part wrapped up with the sil- ver circle contouring the display area, shows great craftsmanship-like finishing. Not only is it aestheti- cally impressive, it also clearly separates the touchscreen from the navigation key area. Besides the “quick button”, only two physical buttons are re- served for the most frequently used func- tions—picking up and hanging up the phone. The ergonomic design allows users to easily operate the phone without having to look at the phone. 009 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 010
    • UI & GUI Concept Design Interface design concept, Essential information which the user needs everyday is placed on home screen. Moreover, most frequently used functions, such as last played song, or latest news, are put on home screen for users to easily ac- cess. Graphical interface design concept, Japan’s capsule hotel was used as the metaphor of this project. The widescreen display was divided into parts. Information displayed in each rectangle was perfectly simplified and extracted. For creating a pure and clean visual style, only black and white color were used to catch the user’s eye on information. 011 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 012
    • MID 2008 QPD-111 is a mobile internet device (MID) designed for mobile users seeking the best mobile internet experiences. The pocket- sized MID is easy to carry and its metal etched surface provides firm grip. Just an easy click on the red Hot Key, inspired by the“bookmark”concept of web browsing, on the upper left side will connect users to the internet. Users can also change the text size or turn the webpages back and forth by using different hand gestures on all touchscreen while pressing on the Hot Key. The gesture-based interface makes web browsing even easier and faster. 013 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 014
    • Combine all the tools you need into one. With one hand pressing on the red-colored Hot Key (i.e. the “Bookmark” key) on the upper left-handed side, and another hand giving different hand ges- tures on the touch screen, us- ers can easily adjust text size of the web or switch between different pages. The intuitive in- terface facilitates easy web browsing. 015 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 016
    • The device is made of stainless steel. Borrowing the production technique of luxury watches, the material underwent the process of metal etching, electroplating, polishing, chemical etching, and PVD surface coating, ex- alting a refined and premium feel from the material. • The Dew 2007 The natural element, “Dew”, is the origin of our inspiration. We bring the natural ele- ment into technical products to exalt more cultural emotions. Meanwhile, we integrate “All types of water” into the design of E21. Users may have stronger visual attacks. While operating, E21 gives users multi fan- tasy looking according to changes of modes. When the phone rings, the light is just like the breeze whiffs the lake. Meanwhile, the sound effect reminds you to answer the call. These aesthetic excogitative details de- crease complicated steps of SMART PHONE. As soon as the operating instruction sends, LCD radiates through the front cover and shows messages to users. E21 perfectly de- livers designers’ carefulness to users. 027 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 028
    • Most problems between open and close occurs in single line. To pre- vent this situation, individualize our products, and completely design our mobiles, we overcome and make slide two lines. E21 could be surrounded by the symbol of ripple successfully. Inspiration The modelling of E21 is obtaining from the natural, so surface of E21 is sleek and mel- low. While holding, it’s also smooth and warm. The flank of E21 is surrounded by the vivid ripple. E21 contains not only vivid but also silent possibilities of changes. 029 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 030
    • To concern about both look and quality, we use Sandwich Injection Moulding to show a crystalloid LCD lens while designing the main lens. This is also a solution of baring mechanism materials. In addition, we adopt the mirror- polished to give users a smooth and crystalloid quality. The screen will hide while not using so that users could enjoy a simply pure interface. We also adopt the original metallic colour and hair silk as the effects of surface to show the metallic quality of Keypad. This design that makes E21 show diverse bou- tique qualities between open and close can also avoid dropping paint of slide. Meanwhile, the erect hair silk is the perfect solution for hurting surface. 031 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 032

The big touchscreen enables full- size browsing, making reading content, whether internet or books, more enjoyable. Besides touchscreen function, it also has physical buttons to accommodate needs of users. The strong contrast between the low- reflection and high-resolution display and the buttons also facilitates easier use. It also supports game functions. With built-in dual speaker and sensor automatically de- tecting how it is held, it provides the best sound effect and gaming experience. 033 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 034

The input methods include handwriting, virtual key- board and a detachable keyboard. User can easily use it as notepad to directly edit docu- ments on the screen, instead of printing them out. The folded-paper-like shape adds a human touch on the sleek one-piece cut exterior made of aluminum alloy. It reduces greatly the numbers of moulds needed, making it more economic and environmentally friendly. 039 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 040

    • Cherishing Memory 2008 Positioned as an easy-to-use photo scanner, QPS-101 is designed to “eliminate complexity and embrace simplicity”. Designer seeks to adopt the most appropriate form and material in accommodation of user scenarios, deliver- ing a sense of new aesthetics through Simplicity and easiness. Despite lacking full functionalities of a big scanner, QPS-101 brings more convenience to users, achieving the goals of “smaller size, simpler operation, lower cost and more emotion”. 051 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 052
    • * The psychological threshold is difficult tocross. The biggest obstacle in using scanner is the complex inter- face that discourages users from using it. Therefore, I try to make the device closer to user in terms of user interface and exterior look. The design tries to remind user that digital photos, instead of being just a replacement of traditional photo, are one of the many ways of “cherishing” as it helps preserve treasured moments permanently. The designer holds the belief that digital and physical memories would co- exist and accompany users for an even longer period of The most common problems in operating time. scanner are document feeding and align- ment. To solve these problems, the docu- ment feeding area is highlighted by a lively dual color combination in the chopped-off area of the cubical body. Not only is it environmentally friendly and aesthetically 057 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 058
    • Seashell 2009 The design is inspired by the concept of lis- tening to the sound of sea from a seashell, which results in a large two-way speaker de- sign. With a hollowed-out center formed by curvy shape and a hollow body, QIR-103 can be placed in any position without com- promising the sound quality. Following the principle of “form follows function”, QIR- 103 brings a premium audio entertainment experience to users. The touchscreen enables intuitive opera- tion. It also offers several useful tools, such as weather check, news, calendar and alarm clock. 059 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 060
    • To differentiate QIR-103 from other similar products available on the market, the de- signer, aiming to fulfill young people’s de- mands for unique and high quality audio product, repeatedly simulated user behaviors in using such a device, which finally resulted in the most optimal design. The curvy shape and hollowed-out center form a perfect space for resonance, which delivers the best sound quality from the large speaker to satisfy even the pickiest ears. Form follow functions: The stylish design is aimed at playing up the excellent audio qual- ity, bringing the high quality audio experience to users. 061 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 062
    • We have observed that style-conscious consumers are looking for an easy-to-use stereo system for their bedside table which can provide digital radio and other multimedia content to enrich their lives. 063 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 064
    • Chinese Ink 2009 The design aims to imitate the wind-blown sail, making the monitor look simple yet powerful. Below the screen are curvy lines made of semi-transparent plastic material, imitating the movement of waves and re- sponding the sail theme. It borrows the brush techniques from Chinese ink painting in designing the wavy part, instilling some human touch into a tech product. The transparent contouring black plastic frame on the front delivers a visual effect that the screen is extended to the edge of the body, giving users a comfortable view- ing experience. 065 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 066
    • In addition, the stand design simplifies the overall operation and improves the ease of use greatly. The design concept is also from “surfing”, ex- pressing the high degree of freedom in us- age, as the “surfing” implies surprising dis- coveries all along the way of exploration and the endless experiences that can be shared. The “No Boundary” design on the touch screen corresponds to an ocean that has no 067 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 068
    • To overthrow the image that a monitor is all about screen, stand and base, the designer tries to let users focus only on the screen. The de- sign cuts short the stand so much that it looks like there’s no stand. The base made of trans- parent plastic material creates a visual illusion that it is an integrate part of the table. It makes the monitor looks like floating on the table, like a sail sailing on the ocean, thus subjecting us- ers’ attention on the large screen for better viewing experience. 069 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 070

    • Interaction Art 2005 The idea of this interactive design is to arouse people’s childhood memories of playing in sum- mer night. By interacting with this work, visitors can temporarily put aside the pressures of life and immerse in a peaceful and relaxed atmo- sphere. We designed a set of special lighting which imi- tate the faint light penetrating into grassland. In addition, twinkling light-spots appearing along- side the shadow of visitor are just like lighting bugs accompanying in summer night. Lighting bugs fly following the movements of visitors’ bodies. The slower the movement is, the more lighting bugs appear. This objective of this design is to encourage ev- eryone to slow down the pace and take a look some easily neglected things, and then help peo- ple find new sight to life, and to every little thing. 077 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 2010 yiyaun’s portfolio 078
