THAT ARE PART OF YOUR JOB
• YOU MAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOTS OF DIFFERENT TASKS
• YOU NEED TO KNOW WHY YOU ARE DOING THESE TASKS AND HOW THEY
FIT INTO THE ORGANISATIONS’S WORK
• THESE MIGHT INCLUDE:
- answering the phone
- filing
- sorting the mail
- checking the tea and coffee supplies
- checking your emails
- ordering of supplies
- helping new staff members to settle in

2. SETTING GOALS
 To be effective in the workplace, employees require clearly
defined goals
 You need to carry out your work tasks properly and on time
in order to achieve your goals
 At all times, goals must be specific and achievable
 These goals lead to improved personal organisation which,
in turn, affects job satisfaction and success in the workplace

3. QUESTION 1

 Below is a list of tasks and goals. Match up the correct task to the goal.

Ordering coffee and tea To make sure that staff can always find the

4. PRIORITISING TASKS
Employees should organise their daily routine by:
 Making a list of tasks to be completed
 Working out the priority of each task –
organising a work schedule
 Establishing how long each task will take to
complete - develop a time frame
 Delegating tasks – share the workload
 Being prepared for ‘urgent’ tasks that may
interrupt the completion of important daily tasks
