    • LESSON RECORDS for Term 1 Weeks 1 and 2 by Yeo Yam Hwee LESSON ENDED AT 1230 - CCA ORIENTATION 2 0800-0845 2E1 Truth/Literature Teacher conducted Housekeeping Matters. Why study literature? Why study poetry? What to expect in Literature Lessons? My Reflections The students were have to learn to listen patiently to the teacher before asking questions. Turn-taking must be taught. At the same time, it was important to impress upon them the need to ask themselves questions with regard to what they read, especially in literary works. 0845-0930 3N1 Independence/English Housekeeping Matters My Reflections As above 1100-1145 2N2 Adaptability /Literature Housekeeping Matters 1145-1230 3N2 Adaptability Form Teacher-Student Contact Time Detailed briefing - Student Handbook 2012 My Reflections The new Student Handbook was a good guide for my students. • LESSON RECORDS for Term 1 Weeks 1 and 2 by Yeo Yam Hwee 0800-0930 3N2 Adaptability English EL 1190/02 Reading Comprehension Component Students sat Assessment - Employment Prospects of Working Mothers in Singapore to expose themselves to the different question types of the new 1190/2 Reading Comprehension component. Teacher supervised as the students worked at their answers and picked up vital information concerning teachers expectations of their delivery for this paper. Teacher also explained the importance of the different question types . My Reflections Important lesson because it had allowed me to observe individual students ability to cope with the rigours of the paper, in terms of their ability to cope with understanding and comprehension of the text and the questions which followed. Assessment also put student on the preparatory mood and helped me to anchor the students on the path of reading a text in a focused manner. Most importantly the tone of how Paper 2 would be taught throughout the semesters had been set. 1100-1145 2N2 Adaptability Literature Students watched a video clip on What is Poetry? with a Question and Answer session concerning the focus of the genre. My Reflections Students were easily distracted but at the same time, teachable . There is a need to focus their attention to the task at hand by bringing in something tangible from the next lesson onwards to help them pay attention to the learning points better. From now on, every lesson will be followed up with a handout from the teacher. Close monitoring needed for this class. 1445-1530 3N2 Adaptability LEAVES Students watched the video clip - M18 - Youth Gangster turning over a new leaf and teacher explained using THEIR terms of reference to bring to their attention the essential concerns - self awareness , self-management and so on (based on PETALS guidelines on CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. My Reflections Students rather liked the movie clip and were generally receptive to the perspective (PETALS) which was shared with them. My Reflections As I went round checking the students work-in-progress, I realised that the students needed more "training" in building rigour in their classroom work. They also needed to be more time conscious. 1015-1145 3N1 Independence English Students proceeded with Part 2 of the Reading Comprehension assessment. My Reflections Same as the above. 1145-1230 2E1 Truth Literature Students and teacher discuss the poem "Paradox of Our TIme". My Reflections It was important to help students understand the following salient features about Literature: 1. It is a subject for life. 2. It is a study of the human condition. 3. It is important to think and ask questions when dealing with a literary work FRI 0845-0930 1015-1100 1100-1145 1145-1230 13 JAN 2E2 3N1 3N2 3N2 Charity Independence Adaptability Adaptability Literature English English FT-Student 8 Contact Time PagePlanned and recorded by Yeo Yam Hwee Page 8
