the idea here is to leverage the "social" through its "media“ to "market" to your constituents
Why the need? Well, social media mktg is here to stay. Eventually, many online professionals, if not all, will be offering SMM services too. So you have to make sure that you stay in the game. impress clients who are new to SMM and show them you know what you are doing save yourself a heck of a time because you will have all the important data about the business beforehandYou need data before you can even formulate a strategy..Be more proactiveSave timeA good reference strategizingwhat services do you offer who are your target customers and where are they located who are your competitors and what success factors do you want to emulate from them what are your strengths and weaknesses as a brand? where / how do you want to position your brand in the market?who is likely to buy your product or services?**what websites or social networking sites do they frequent?**what are they saying about your brand or your competitor's?**what content do they love to read online?**what tools or services online are they currently using? and how can you possibly help in improving the way they use these tools?
S - specific**If you say your goal on Twitter is to gain more followers, this can still be a little vague. Instead you can say, gain 1,000 new followers from a specified industry / market segment...M - Measurable**you cannot manage something that is not measurable**if you intend to increase your page views, you need to set up your Google analytics or hosting statistics even before you begin implementing your SMM strategy. If you want to join 100 industry-related communities Google+ or Facebook groups, then you should set how many groups you can join daily and set a timeframe for it. A - Attainable** you yourself should be the first one to be convinced that your goals are attainable. If your client achieved 5,000 subscribers to mailing list in the span of 5 years, then you should know that gaining 500,000 new subscribers every year may be quite impossible. Again, don't set your goals too high. Play it by ear. Set something achievable then try to overdeliver. R - Realistic**remember that not all attainable goals are realistic. realistic goals mean that you have resources at that moment to reach your goals...T - Timely**you need to specify the timeframe it will take you toachieve your goals. Say, you need 500 new followers on Twitter every month..100 new subscriptions every week.
