What I'd Like The World To Read - Presentation Transcript

    1. What I'd like the World to Read
      • Title: P.S. I Love You
      • Author: Cecelia Ahern
      • Library Call Number: English AHE
    2. SUMMARY A surprisingly charming debut about grief , love , family and struggling to move on with life. Holly and Gerry were the perfect couple that everyone knew. When Gerry died of a brain tumor, Holly felt very lost and upset, and she stayed in her apartment mourning about her loss. Finally she emerges from her cocoon, but was not ready to re-embrace life. Despite the efforts of her loved ones, she could not move on. Then she received a package from beyond the grave which was the List . Gerry wrote it before his death, leaving her instructions to do things like buy a bedside lamp, sing karaoke, and she ends every note with "PS, I love you." Holly obeys the List -- sometimes happily, sometimes reluctantly -- and her new experiences help her to remember the past, while looking to the future. In a way, it helped her recover from her loss, and revive from her current state. Holly is a likable character, very true to life and sympathetic. Her family seems a little too bizarre at times, but we love that part of the story. Gerry himself, despite being dead, is one of the more intriguing personalities in the book even if he only appears in Holly's memory. It was a truly enjoyable book.
