12. 12. EXAMPLE ONE OF LANGUAGE ERRORS

1. “ In this essay I will look at how students deal with their 1 st year of university. I will discuss the pro’s and con’s that they will face and how they will deal with studying at a university, what some of the issues are, and what they do to get through because most of them do not want to fail and their families who support them might feel ashamed if they fail. “

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS SENTENCE?

 13. 13. EXAMPLE TWO

2. “ A student can’t do study and socialise all night long as well. If they don’t plan their time, they’ll set themselves up to fail. That would be terrible for them. Some students expect university to be like high-school but when they find out that they’ve got to do the work without a teacher looking over your head, they might give up and drop-out.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE SENTENCES?

The issues that the student will encounter will require, the implementation of a plan, one that will ensure success. Therefore, if the student developed a plan that included time management, organising a study space, budgeting, and a timeline for their social life these strategies will assist them on their journey toward their degree. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS SENTENCE?

 15. 15. September, Union Press, Sydney

 16. 16. In-text Referencing

Brown (2002) suggests, “ students who develop a plan to assist them in study will succeed.” However, research also
