3 D Zi Xin, Effects Of Deforestation

 1. 1. EFFECTS OF DEFORESTATION By Chang Zi Xin Class 3D
 2. 2. What is Deforestation? the cutting down, burning and damaging of forests.
 3. 3. Causes of Deforestation

Humans cut down trees and use the land for farming or cattle grazing.

Trees are cut down to provide us with: fuel, wood, paper, chopsticks etc.

 4. 4.

50 million creatures live by trees. 6. 6. Effects of Deforestation

Orangutan

Because of deforestation, the environment is forcing orangutan’s populations into smaller areas, which cannot support them.

Number left: between 20,000- 27,000 and it is dropping.

Its reproductive rate is very slow, possibly once every 8 to 9 years.

Effects of Deforestation

Bengal Tiger

Deforestation has forced much of the Bengal Tiger’s preys, such as deer, antelopes, buffalo etc. to leave the place.

Bengal Tiger’s main danger: Its habitat destruction through agricultural expansion, new roads and human settlements.

 8. 8. Deforestation presents multiple societal and environmental problems. The immediate and long-term consequences of global deforestation are almost certain to jeopardize life on Earth. Some of these consequences include: loss of biodiversity; the destruction of forest-based-societies; and climatic disruption.
 9. 9. If the current rate of deforestation continues, the world’s rainforests will disappear within 100 years – causing unknown effects on global climate and eliminating the majority of plant and animal species on earth! THE END
