  • 2. What is Deforestation?
    • Deforestation is the cutting or burning down of all the trees in an area.

    • We need to use the woods from the trees to make tissue paper, toilet paper, furniture etc.
  • 5. Why Deforestation Happens?
    • To construct more buildings on the empty land.
    • To clear the land for cattle, horses or chicken farms.
    • To grow vegetable, rice and other food for more and more human beings.
  • 6. Deforestation Affects the Earth
    • Lesser oxygen is produced by the trees for us to breath.
    • There will be more carbon dioxide which worsens global warming.

    • Many animals will die in the rain forests because their habitats and food are destroyed.
    • Some places can become deserts because deforestation changes earth climate.
  • 8. How Bad is Deforestation Today?
    • Deforestation had already caused the extinction of many insects in Madagascar.
  • 9. How Bad is Deforestation Today?
    • 750-850 million hectares of rain forests had disappeared due to deforestation.
    • Destruction of rain forests all over Asia in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, China, Sri Lanka, Laos, Philippines and India.
    • An increase in earth temperature of 0.5 to 0.6 ° c in the last 100 years due to deforestation. Many icebergs had melted due to the rising temperature.

    • The weather can become too hot for us due to global warming.
    • We will have to pay more for paper and wood products as they will become very expensive.
    • Haze will prevail and our health will be badly affected.

  • 14. What Can You Do to Stop Deforestation?
    • Plant more trees.
    • Use handkerchief instead of tissue paper.
    • Use less disposable chopsticks.
    • Donate to environmental charities that promote forest conservation.
