Digital Video <ul><li>Why stop at digital cameras? </li></ul><ul><li>Another productive way in challenging students, is having them create a story using digital cameras. </li></ul><ul><li>Give students enough time to brainstorm the topic in order for them to create a story line. </li></ul>

Why is THIS Important? <ul><li>You can use this new technique for different reasons </li></ul><ul><li>You have them dig deeper into a subject and have them create a storyline in order to present to the class a video of what they learned in the subject. We really want them to recreate what they’ve learned. </li></ul><ul><li>It’s creative and new ways of teaching! It’s better than having them memorize the textbook. Students are learning by creating the storyline and making sure it’s accurate. </li></ul>
  14. 14. Digital Video Example <ul><li>Student’s use digital videos in different ways. </li></ul><ul><li>Middle School students created a Public Service Announcement to raise the awareness of Global Warning. </li></ul><ul><li> </li></ul>

Webquest <ul><li>If you know how to use Word, PowerPoint, or Excel, then you are more likely capable of using web quest </li></ul><ul><li>Web quests requires more than just summarizing it includes </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Synthesis </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Analysis </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Problem-solving </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Creativity </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Judgment </li></ul></ul>

Web quest in the Classroom <ul><ul><li>Web quests makes good use of the web. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>This isn’t a research report nor is it a step by step math or science equation </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>This is where student’s can interact with each other and edit their information. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>A great way for teachers to also check student’s work and edit them as they go along. </li></ul></ul>

Twitter <ul><li>We are at that time where social media is the new way of communicating </li></ul><ul><li>We update our status’s and following people on twitter. </li></ul><ul><li>Most student’s tend to have a twitter page so they are able to follow their friends or even their favorite celebrities </li></ul><ul><li>But, how about following their teachers? </li></ul>

Using Twitter in the Classroom <ul><li>Many student’s go home and spend hours doing other things rather than doing homework </li></ul><ul><li>They tend to go online and check out their messages on social networks </li></ul><ul><li>What if teachers had their own pages and used them to remind students of what happened in class or about their homework assignments? </li></ul><ul><li>Here’s an example post </li></ul><ul><li>“ REMINDER: Homework due tomorrow…Pages __ to___ due tomorrow!” </li></ul>

Facebook <ul><li>Another social media that so many student’s use to see their friends updates. </li></ul><ul><li>Teachers can update their status, show examples, add photos, and the list goes on and on. </li></ul><ul><li>Adding the student’s and their parents is a great way to interact and use reminders </li></ul>

Parents and Facebook <ul><li>A lot of adult’s use social media to communicate as well </li></ul><ul><li>Adding the student’s parents on a specific page that is used for your class is important. </li></ul><ul><li>That way the parents are also involved in what their child is doing in your class. </li></ul>
