Q3.To research my target .com. Here I could narrow downaudience I logged on to who to aim for. After answering a short quiz, I found that I am an ‘Indie Scenester’. However this social group can link to other social groups. After looking at all the possible categories, my target audience was a mix of ‘Indie Scenesters’ and ‘Young Alts’.
I believe that my magazine is similar to KERRANG!Because we feature the same bands and genre. One difference is that my magazine is aimed atfemales, whereas KERRANG! Is aimed at men.
Similar masthead– however mine is aimed at ayounger audience. Similar colour scheme Similar feature listings Both have unique selling points
COVER STAR: Gender: I have used a male star for my front cover, however I have listed mainly bands that are either female lead, or most listened to by females. This attracts the audience because they are current and modern and shows diversity in the music business. Age: I have chosen a star that is around the same age as my target audience which means that the audience can relate to the star and aspire to be them. Genre: I have dressed the star in an orange t-shirt. It is modern and looks like something a rock star would wear.BACK
The first thing that potential readers see is themasthead. Because of the bold colours and bigwriting it is easily noticed and will attract audiences. The tagline tells the audience what the magazine is about – it reflects attitude which relates to the genre. This button shows a competition – this will appeal to the audience because of the bright colour and the enlarged text. This will grab the readers attention. The strap at the top and bottom of the page shows the reader that there are more features inside that they might want to read. This will appeal to a wider audience because it means that there are more potential readers.
My colour scheme is neon green, purple, black and white. All four colours stand out on the page and stand out individually. They do not have a particular gender identification.I used Photoshop to get thestar in front of the masthead. I have also used the colour scheme on both the contents and double page spread. This means that the audience can refer to the front cover.
