  • 1. Web_Design_China : Part IActive File Compare - What Is ItHeart of File Comparison Software. File comparison is the process of comparing two fileson a file system. Comparison files allow evaluation and comparison of PDF, Binary and MSdocuments. The results are displayed to the user which in turn can be used to completetasks in networks and to automate revision control procedure. File comparison software isbuilt around diff and cmp programs. The software works by solving the Longest CommonSubsequence (LCS) between two files. Most comparison softwares can be integrated withan external diff tool. What Active File Compare Does? Active File compares and synchronizes text files in visualmode. Active file compare can evaluate two versions of the same file and also correctssource codes by comparing them. Active File transfer supports syntax highlighting for theprogramming languages C, C++, Delphi, Object Pascal, Perl, FORTRAN, FoxPro andVisual Basic. Active File compare comes handy to manage your source code when severalindependent authors make changes. The algorithm system the software follows is designedto be accurate with small text files and in files with a large of number of changes. Thesoftware has a user friendly interface .Apart from the standard tool and menu bar it containstwo folder panels, two line compare panels, thumbnail panel and a line panel. Active filecompare has its own file manager system with which you can compare two folders, loadfiles for further work, copy files, folders etc. Users can open files from different folders afterallocating commands in the file menu. Users can control the controls the files to displayedusing the filters.Unmatched Features. Active File Compare offers its users a plethora of features. Users getto compare files, get visual display, edit and manage files.Comparison- Compares files which exists in GZip, Zip and Tar archive files.- Compares two folders.- Creates the difference as a HTML or UnixDiff file.- View live project statistics.Display- Displays compared files side by side.- Highlights syntax for a wide range of programming softwares like C++, Java, Delphi,FORTRAN.- Highlights differences down to the level of characters.- Supports Multi lingual interface.- Supports thumbnail view for graphic representation of differences.Editing

But you can do the whole thing yourself and make it drag and dropsimple for mere pennies with a tool like Breezy Websites. And the difficulty gets more challengingif what you are looking for are ports with serial, parallel and non-USB connectors, becausemodern computers have either reduced or removed the use non-USB ports. If you cannot find any available non-USB ports, you can still your non-USB devices to use.
  • 3. Simply get yourself a USB adapter. You may ask, is a USB adapter better than theconventional expansion card? Here are the advantages of employing a USB adapter:1. Compatibility. Whether you wish to connect the serial, parallel port, or any other non-USBports to your computer using the USB adapter, you wont have any problem getting them towork properly. The USB adapter allows your devices to work if connected to a USB port.2. Price. Buying an expansion card is more costly than buying a USB cable.3. Universality. In the past, there were certain ports that were compatible with only specificdevices like printers and modems, particularly for printer ports. USB Adapter accommodatesall (depending on the sort of USB adapter) non-USB connectors of any computerperipherals. This short list would include joysticks, keyboards, modems, and mouse with 9-or 25-pin serial connectors.4. Availability. USB adapters are more plentiful than expansion cards and, in turn, are easierto locate. A local computer store or online store could be a rich resource.5. Practicality. While most of the devices on the market have USB connectors, computersand other host systems also have USB ports. And because non-USB ports are harder tofind, you can resort to a USB adapter to connect your non-USB devices to your computer.6. No extra expansion cards required. Normally, when you link devices with a non-USBconnector to your computer you would need additional expansion cards for each of these. Ifyou would add a joystick and a modem or any peripheral with non-USB connectors, youwould have to add an equal number of expansion cards for each use. With a USB adapter, all you require is a USB port to link any non-USB device to your computer.7. Multipliable. Because a single USB port can accommodate up to 127 devices (includinghubs), you can attach several non-USB devices without the need of expansion cards. Thismeans that if you have numerous non-USB devices, all you need to do is to provide eachwith USB adapter and a hub to connect them to the source.8. Simple installation. If you prefer to use an expansion card for your single device, youhave to open up the computer casing in order for the expansion card to be installed on yourmotherboard. But that is not the end of it. You still have to turn on your computer to reboot itbefore the card will start working. With a USB adapter, all you have to do is to attach theconnector of your non-USB device to the adapter, insert the adapter into the USB port ofyour computer and in no time, your device is working--even while your computer is turnedon. With all these advantages, would you still prefer using expansion cards for your non-USBdevices? Definitely not! The availability of USB adapters has made connecting devices toyour computer quicker, cheaper, and easier.Hiring a web designer to come up with the custom solution that you need can set you back
