  • 6. Acknowledgements Above all, I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to serve his community through helping his leaders to find, focus and fulfill at least one part of their LIFE PURPOSE by supporting them to put together their message of HOPE and to communicate it at an international level with the end goal to change lives and make a difference in this world. Then, I would like to thank my parents, who from planted in me at a very young age the seed of doing something that mattered for our community. I truly hope that with my commitment and most especially, with God’s help and guidance, I can respond to that calling. I would also like to thank Paul Van Ryssel, who has been a great source of inspiration, a great friend and support who has constantly made me think a reflect on how I have been spending my life and how it really should be. I also want to thank all of those leaders who decided to take action and send their message to the world who have been a great source of knowledge and inspiration through their books, seminars or training programs where I can mention names like Dani Johnson, Brendon Burchard, Clate Mask, Loral Langemeier, Frank Kern, James Malinchak, T. Harv Eker, Kevin Nations, Robert Kiyosaki, Stephen Covey, Michael Gerber, Jim Collins, Ken Blanchard, Jack Canfield, Robin Sharma, Mike Koenigs, Ali Brown, Wayne Dyer, Muhammad Yunus, Pamela McDonald, Brian Tracy, Seth Godin and Russell Brunson among many other speakers, authors and coaches. Thank you for letting your light go out to the world! . i
  • 7. Chapter 1 How a life purpose is born: my personal story During my life I have met different people who have had a strong impression in my way of thinking, especially in the transcendence of the actions I take and their impact in the future, in my life and in my direct and indirect descendants. By, direct descendants, I am referring to my kids, my own blood, whereas indirect descendants are the next generations of the people I impact with my actions. I will share with you 7 of the multiple stories that have had an impact in my life, especially in the creation of this book and program. I will go through them briefly so that I can highlight the importance of how a life purpose is born. • Story 1: business incubator with a 500 year vision There was a Spaniard who decided to lead a community in Mexico and he taught them to design crafts with their own hands as a way of earning a living. Even though it could sound like a simple task, this endeavor that the Spaniard decided to address has fed families in that community for over 500 years now. • Story 2: Single mothers propelled from extreme poverty to exporting their products internationally Several years ago I met a social leader who really cared about single mothers whose common traits included no formal education, no job, no social security, no medical attention, and no expectations of hope to get out of their misery. Their kids did not attend school. The social leader gathered 20 of those women and started asking about their skills and abilities. Some of them knew how to cook, some others knew how to sew, and some others knew how to make crafts. Nothing with added value. The leader spoke to a credited college and asked for their support to help these women to get organized and to create a business plan. Once organized, some of those women would cook and make crafts, some others would take care of their children and some others would sell their products. The leader of this new organization went after seed and working capital for the group, but it was more like loan, not a grant. He educated them financially to repay that loan within one year. Several 1
  • 8. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com years later, this group exports a part of their production to Europe. Besides, they same monthly payment that they had to pay to cover their loan is the same amount of money they educated their business to continuously donate it to other newly incubated groups of women. • Story 3: The ownership of becoming an economic engine for different families. A local business owner had a manufacturing operation and his customers abandoned the business without previous notice. The business owner could have shut the operation down, as many others have done, paying severance to their employees according to the law. This business owner knew that the 20 women he had employed were the only income for their families. So, he decided to look for another customer at all costs, out of his own budget. He had to travel to cities nearby until he found a plant manager of a manufacturing operation that needed similar products to the ones they produced back at his home town. It took the business owner more than 12 hours to negotiate the contract in just one weekend. He was determined to make it happen, so the first contract got signed on a napkin and honored for 2 years. More than owning a business, this entrepreneur owned the responsibility for those families who worked for him, and he honored that at his own cost. • Story 4: Micro-credit lender for poor people at an international level Muhammad Yunus shares his own story in which one of his best professors told him to pay attention to the needs of the people and not necessarily to what books describe as economic models. His teacher meant that economic models responded to different moments and needs of that time, and not necessarily would they respond to the needs our community is facing today. That was how he took of the blindfold he had and he started seeing poor people in his community who had no access to credit and therefore, no access to grow economically. He asked for the support of the banks for these people, but he got turned down since they had no collaterals. Muhammad decided to start his own micro-credit lending institution, named “Grameen Bank”, which by the way, has the highest repay rate in the industry. Today, millions of families have received the benefits of Yunus' courage, vision and leadership. • Story 5: The vision of an international logistics corridor A few years ago, I visited Panama with a group of real estate 2
  • 9. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com investors and it’s truly impressive to see the engineering masterpiece of the Panama Canal and the expansion they planned. What impressed me the most was that the person who envisioned the whole project did it in the 1800s. How could somebody with the technology and progress of that time envision an international trade mechanism like the one they currently have in Panama? Today, more than 100 years later, there are thousands of families and companies throughout the world who have income and food on their table because of the vision of this man. • Story 6: Becoming the social causes ambassador for 1 continent Vivian Glyk decided to go to Africa a few years ago and she witnessed a child birth, but the mother of this baby died when she gave birth. Vivian wanted to adopt the newborn girl, but it was impossible because of legalities. Vivian felt frustrated to see that a little girl was just born and she had no one to look after her in her life. So she asked the nuns of the hospital how she could help. The nun said that they did not even have electrical power in the hospital, therefore, whatever Vivian did was going to be appreciated. Vivian spoke to Mike Koenigs, her husband, who prepared a training program for business decision makers and donated the earnings to this project. Mike always suggests to offer a solid value proposition to donors in exchange of their time and money, otherwise the projects will not become sustainable in the future. This event generated several million dollars, so they decided to support several communities. Vivian got the honorary Ambassador position for social causes of the whole African continent, where she supports and incubates entrepreneur women. • Story 7: Supporting social incubators in other communities Clate Mask and Scott Martineau are the founders of a very important software company. For several years now, during their annual convention, they run a fundraising contest to support entrepreneurs from poor communities through Mentors International. Clate and Scott personally visit the families who receive the funds in countries like Guatemala or Belize. They even take their families and kids to go through the whole experience of engaging with those communities. That is something they take very personal and a cause they are truly committed to in the shape of sponsorship. What made an impression on me out of these stories? Each one of those leaders decided to think on a project greater than themselves. 3
  • 10. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com Each one of them committed themselves to supporting families to succeed, not by solving their problems, but by developing their skills and talent. All of them found problems to solve in their communities and turned them into a life purpose. If they could make a difference with the resources they had at the time they started, what can we do with what we have today? Why would we take advantage of our lives and resources we have to support and develop the potential in our communities? I will bring this to a first person scenario now: what do I have to do to make my life worth living generating an impact greater than my own life? What do I have to do in order for my kids to develop that sense of contribution, efforts and long term vision? I have been familiar with these kinds of stories throughout my entire life, and I talk about them as though they were totally outside of my reach. When was I going to start telling my own stories? When was I going to wake up without hiding behind the administrative trenches of the jobs and contracts I was taking that did not provide the value I could possibly offer to my community if I tried harder? I have been a marketing professor in several universities. Some of my students have expressed to me that taking those courses with me had been life changing because they were forced to think and act differently. Why not sharing those teachings and knowledge at an international level reaching more families to change their lives? I have been thinking about this for plenty of years now, until this year, during summer time I fainted and lost track of everything. What would have happened if I had died or fall into a comma? How much more time would spend without taking actions that truly mattered in life? How much more time would I be trapped into a lot of working hours without having balance with my family as I should? 4
  • 11. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com That was a wakeup call! If I came to this world to serve others, this was a sign indicating that I needed to take action, not only to benefit myself, but also to benefit my kids and my community. I would not like to get to God empty handed. There is a phrase that I have heard with different speakers that says “If you want something you’ve never had, you’ll have to do something you’ve never done” I have performed plenty of tasks for different companies as an employee and also as a service provider. Now it’s the time to integrate what I know with other people’s talent to make something worthwhile at an international level. So, I will give my best while building this international program which will find, develop and impulse human talent and leadership that will allow us to change lives throughout the world and at the same time, to develop a solid platform of values my kids will be able to inherit. Why should you join me to make this life purpose happen? Is it worth it? What’s in it for you? In the next chapter we will cover those questions and a vision with numbers that I hope you like and feel inspired by to take action and join this international group of leaders seeking to leave a footprint in our world by helping other people change their lives and build wealth. In the meantime, let me tell you how to take advantage of this book: I encourage you to get a notepad, so that you take notes as you read each chapter with the stories, examples and ideas shared in there. Each chapter will have some questions and action steps that I encourage you to work on. The only thing that will make a difference and deliver results in your life, family and community is IMPLEMENTATION. I encourage you to start every chapter after you have finished the action steps of the previous one. Read this book or specific chapters as many times as you need. Sometimes when you read a chapter several times, it evokes different 5

  • 13. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com Chapter 2 Why helping others to become wealthy Let me give 3 Important Reasons: • Because wealth comes from serving people, and therefore, the more people you help, the wealthier you will become. • Because the pain and problems that you have gone through in your life, were just the process to prepare you to lead and ease other people’s lives out of their illness, poverty, rejection and even death. This means that you will become the answer to other people’s prayers for a miracle. You will become a messenger of hope in the shape of a solution for people’s problems. • Because it terrifies you to waste your life without having done or created something that helps future generations, starting with your family. It also terrifies you not to be able to provide your family with a more committed, visionary and present leader: spouse and parent. Additionally, you are tired of trading time for money and it terrifies you to not have the time and circumstances to create and build wealth for your retirement years and as a legacy for your kids and the generations to come. You wondered why you had gone through the experiences you had before. Here is your answer: because you needed to become stronger and smarter, so that you can lead the way for other people! If it is that you have only one life and one chance to make things right, what’s your answer for the following questions? • What’s your life purpose and how do you plan to use all your available and abundant resources around you? • What’s your plan to spend quality and quantity time with your family or loved ones? • What’ your plan to serve other people with what you’ve already learned through your life? 7
  • 14. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com I personally took the decision to change my life and to start making a difference in other’s people’s lives as my life purpose. I want to invite you to start this journey with me and if you accept the challenge, I dare you to take this book or program as a turning point for your life. Along the book you will find strategies, tactics, tools and other resources that will help you change your quality of life, but before we get into the life purpose and wealth building framework, let’s go to the foundation and baseline. Think and reflect on the following questions for a minute or two: • If you could change only 1 thing of our society in terms of health, love or finance, what would it be? What problem would you try to solve with your own knowledge and skills? • Can you imagine the transformation you will bring to our community by sharing your knowledge, skills and attitude? How would our world be? • Why would it really matter for our community and for your family that you succeed in your quest if you had that chance? Reality is, YOU HAVE THAT CHANCE! Now, I promise you that by reading this book and going through this program you will open yourself to a new possibility, a new life model where you will learn 3 things: • You will be able to visualize a tangible and better way to live with your family and to contribute to have a better community at the same time that you grow your wealth. You will get an irresistible offer for your life, one that you won’t like to refuse. • You will learn a step by step roadmap to create a system out of your knowledge, experience and skills that will enable you to change your lifebusiness model and make a difference in other people’s lives. You will learn how to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, bringing the best out of you. You will be able to go over the edge of success and significance of being the best of the world to being the best for the world. • You will learn how to take advantage of the unique opportunity of joining an international network of like-minded people in a mastermind 8
  • 15. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com model. Remember that your quality of life will depend on your quality of thoughts and conversations that you feed your mind with on a daily basis. The eyes see what the mind is prepared to see. This will be the most important reason why you will need an international group that allows you to maintain a positive mindset. I was asked once: • “What would your legacy be for your children, significant others and community if you were told you were going to die 1 year from today? What would you do for those next 365 days? • Would you continue doing the same things you currently do? • What would you do different?” At first, those questions didn’t hit me emotionally, but as soon as I started thinking about my kids and family, that question froze me! • Had I shared enough time and enough experiences with them? • Had I taught my kids all what I’d learned through my life to ease theirs in the years to come? • Had I changed the life of others through my example, expertise, service and COMMITMENT? • What difference had I made in my kids’ and other people’s lives so that they live a great life and develop to their full potential? On the one hand, I wanted to answer that I had plenty of plans for the future to fulfill those questions, but reality was my plans were not concrete. They were just a group of good intentions and abstract ideas. I challenged myself to re-think and re-frame my paradigms. I truly wanted to make a difference in my life and especially with my kids, wife, family and my community. I have had different jobs and started different business ventures throughout my life. I have succeeded at some of them, and failed at others. What remained constant is that I started all of them without a specific, measurable and impactful mission or goal. I was just getting by, trying to make a living as an average person. 9
  • 16. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com Was that way of living the best I could live if I had just one life? It surely wasn’t. Besides, that question about legacy kept bouncing in my mind for several months. Would I settle with making a living as an average person or was I going to start making a difference? -Do you ask yourself the same questions?I decided to make my life worthwhile, so I took action following a 3 step approach: Learn – Plan – Implement At the learning stage, I started to search for knowledge and training in different forms: lectures, seminars, books, ebooks, webinars, online forums, social networks and so on. I was always looking for free golden nuggets from different speakers, coaches and trainers. However, as you might already know, free training will only take you so far. After 2 years of bouncing from the front door of one program to another, I decided to truly commit myself to learning how to put together my knowledge to help others by leveraging on other people’s experience, time and resources that would allow me to create programs good enough to make a difference in my community. At that point, I decided to invest in different training programs. This time, I wasn’t chasing any special form of degree or recognition, but to develop the skills, knowledge and attitude to fulfill that mission. After spending thousands of dollars in learning, experimenting and implementing strategies, tactics and tools for 5 years, the same legacy question kept on coming back to me, especially when I kept hearing or reading bad news in the media related to businesses closing, unemployment, illnesses, misery, and so on. • What was I doing to change those news?, • What were my children learning from my commitment and leadership to try to solve at least 0.1% of those problems? Was I even trying?, • Would I keep on being indifferent to that reality because of common excuses like: I don’t have time for this or it’s not my problem? 10
  • 17. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com -Do you relate? After the learning stage, I decided to move to the second step: the planning stage of documenting the best practices out of that experience. Throughout this book, I will share with you the system that I developed trying to bring what I thought best of all the training seminars, books, coaches and personal experiences that I had, with the expectation to help you save time, money and costly mistakes. I have heard from different marketers this description of the acronym SYSTEM: Save Your Self Time Energy and Money. That is exactly what I am building through my SYSTEM, a formula that will help you take action and stop wasting time, energy and money. This 7 step system was designed to help and influence other people like me who are willing to take a stand to make a difference in our families and communities with a clear vision of creating a ripple effect. In addition to sharing the knowledge and skills that I recommend in my system, I will share with you some of the values that I decided to stick to, and that I suggest you do as well so that we fulfill our life purpose and build wealth as we move along. Attitude value 1: Be clear and definite about what you want out of life in terms of love, health and finance. As many brilliant authors, coaches and speakers have expressed, if we truly know what we want, when we want it and how we want it, our decision making process becomes relatively easy as to determine what we have to do to actually go and get it. Attitude value 2: Create and nurture a burning desire to get what you want out of life with the following philosophy: 3 steps beyond “I did everything I could” is “whatever it takes” Since you already know or are in the process of knowing what you want in terms of love and relationships, health and money, now the challenge is to determine your starting point and the bridge that will take you to that desired state. Hopefully, you are so determined to go and get what you want that 11
  • 18. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com nothing will stop you from getting there, not even you, especially, not you. I invite you to reflect on this phrase by asking yourself the same questions I asked myself about my personal behavior: • How many times have I faced situations in my life in which I said “I did everything I could, but it wasn’t enough”? • How many times have I faced other people’s needs but I didn’t help them because they were out of my responsibility reach? • Is this really the way I wanted to live? Now, that doesn’t mean that I have to solve everybody’s problems. It’s more an opportunity on teaching and coaching other people how to prevent and solve those problems by themselves instead of trying to rescue them over and over again, like so many organizations do. I decided that my life purpose would not be to create a charity, but a movement to transform lives. After planning and developing my system, I decided that it was time for it to hatch so that it truly brings benefits to our community. So, here is my invitation: I encourage you and challenge you to join my crusade to change the world! Together, the challenge and goal of this crusade is to reach at least 1,000,000 families in the next 10 years and to help them change their lives. To accomplish this goal, I am starting an international movement, and if you are up to the challenge, you will count on me as a partner and I will count on you, so that together, we will make a difference in this world. This movement is addressed to 3 different types of group: Entrepreneurs: young minds looking to start their own venture providing our community with high value added services with an international vision. Business decision makers: experienced business owners, managers, 12
  • 19. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com directors, vice-presidents and presidents of organizations who are very well experienced and who want to help others with their expertise. Field professionals: physicians, psychologists, teachers, consultants, therapists, accountants, marketers, architects, social workers, teachers, organizational leaders, and plenty of other intellectual field professionals who can change lives. Is this system for anybody? Is it for you? Do you qualify for this program? YES, if you want to make a difference in our world. YES, if you have a strong sense and commitment of contribution to our community. YES, if you have a strong ethics code. YES, if you are committed to your family. YES, if you have experience, including skills, knowledge and attitude developed over more than 10 work years, they could be as an employee or as a business owner. YES, if you are willing to learn, reflect, plan and take action to change your life and create an impact all around you. This system is a step-by-step sequence of what needs to be done, from identifying your personal life map and boundaries to finding your life purpose and taking action upon it. Why does the world need someone like you? • Because that legacy question is bouncing within the limits of your mind too. You know that there has to be a better way of doing things than the way we are doing it as a society today and you are willing and courageous enough to take a stand with me. • Because you already know how to do something that can change and improve people’s lives in their health, love or financial life and they are waiting for you to lead them! • Because you have a burning desire to truly enjoy your life, build 13
  • 20. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com wealth and provide the best in for your family! • Because you want to be a part of a leading like-minded international group: “birds of a feather, flock together” When and how will we do it? We have to start now, and we are going to do it together as a team. Attitude value 3: “Join an international group of like-minded people so that you get support and accountability from believers with wealth thinking and acting habits” The only weapons that will help you succeed are the way you and I think and a relentless action driven spirit to implement the strategies we are about to share and plan together. This obviously includes perseverance, faith in your end goal and the support of a master mind group that is willing to walk with you all the way through. We are developing an international networking & support group that we call our Global Expansion Network, where we will be working with at least 200 communities throughout the world. To learn more about the Global Expansion Network and the cities we will be visiting for the engagement tour go to www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com Can you imagine the difference you can make in people’s lives and the next generation if you have a platform of 200 communities open to your message and commitment? Let’s frame this question differently. Would it be worth to help 100 people or families from your community to change their life with what you already know that works in regards to health, love or finance? What will be the result if your knowledge and message of hope reaches 100 people or families multiplied by 200 communities? Would you be happy to know that you have lived if you had helped at least those 20,000 families throughout your life? Would 20,000 satisfied customers make a difference in your wealth and lifestyle? 14
  • 21. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com What if you created a community on your area of expertise and problem that you solve and it generated recurring income from those 20,000 families on a monthly basis because of the value you add to them? Would that become an outstanding retirement fund? What happens if you create a multiplier or ripple effect where you train others to replicate your system? Let’s suppose you transform just 1% of the people you touch into leaders that would replicate your system. If they touch 100 families in 200 cities as well, can you imagine the ripple effect? Would that become a legacy and something you will be able to inherit to your kids and future generations? That’s the power of leverage on an international network of like-minded leaders. There is a lot of work to do, and we are going to do it in a SMART way. My past paradigms were to “WORK HARD” and most of the times as a “LONE RANGER” either at my JOB or at my OWN BUSINESS. For more than 10 years, I have done both: I held jobs and started business ventures at the same time. I was playing small by trying to play safe, especially with three kids at home (that was my excuse for playing small). I used to agree to that paradigm of “WORKNG HARD”, until I was exposed to the “WORKING SMART” paradigm, and even though it can just be a nice phrase or idea, once I ran the 4F Filter (Family, Fitness, Faith and Finance – in that specific order) I had no option but to find a way and learn how to “WORK SMART”. What does that mean? It means that I needed to align all my resources to my priorities: mind, body, soul, time and money. If you THINK God or your family are your priorities number 1 and 2, how much time and money do you personally (mind, body and soul) dedicate to them? TIME and MONEY: 2 of the most important resources you will have to learn how to manage in order to succeed with our goal. 15
  • 22. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com Don’t let your present life cash a check of time and/or money your future life won’t be able to collect. Let’s begin with time: Perhaps, God and my Family were my aspirational priorities number 1 and 2, but in reality, as far as time in my day-to-day life, they weren’t even in my top 5 priority list. To give you an idea of how I plotted the 4F Filter (Family, Fitness, Faith and Finance), let me share with you how I developed a chart in which I would have an annual layout (calendar) of activities: • The first “F” stands for FAMILY: I first assigned how many days I wanted to spend time with my family on different activities that would build strong values and virtues in my kids like reading together, learning together different hobbies, take trips, attend religious and cultural events, etc. All of these activities had a specific number of hours and money to invest in. Obviously these activities would be on the side of what each member of the family had to fulfill at the time like school, sports classes, music classes and so on. • The second “F” stands for FITNESS: Then I assigned how much time and money I would dedicate to fitness and health. This includes how many hours I got to sleep and what type of food I should eat, plus working out. Once again, this has an implication on time and money. I recall attending an event where Daniel Amen gave a presentation and he showed us how the brain starts to shrink after the age of 45 because of the abuse of our physical body in terms of how we eat, sleep and exercise. Then he explained that after being a physician for more than 20 years, he had seen a correlation between well being and the size of the brain. So, if you want to have a better life, especially after the age of 45, you’d better take good care of your health. • The third “F” stands for FAITH: Then, as far as faith goes, it meant assigning time to activities that connect me not only to God and my religion, but also to helping my community. Once again, this had an implication on time and money. You might be questioning yourself why we place faith in the third place, and this obeys only to the fact that if you have bad health or bad relationships and habits with your family, you won’t be able to commit to our community. Remember, this is an action plan and calendar more than a philosophy. 16
  • 23. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com • The last “F” to go for is FINANCE. Not because it’s not important, but because with the time that I had left after the other 3 Fs (family, fitness and faith). I needed to figure out what to do to generate enough money to support that kind of lifestyle in the present and in the future. This means that I needed to transform my working hours into assets, meaning ongoing income generating strategies that I would no longer need to work for, passive income as Robert Kiyosaki refers to in his different books and training programs. This leads us into the second resource: MONEY. In order to manage the “F” of finance with a long term vision, the recommendation from several finance and wealth coaches, is to split money or income streams into the following areas: • 45% maximum to cover your family and personal needs (including housing, food, fitness, health and whatever you consider to be within your basic needs) • 15% to cover personal and family entertainment and trips • 15% to invest in long term funds, properties or projects that create passive income (like a retirement fund) • 15% to save for special goods that you’d like to enjoy like a summer house, a boat, etc. • 10% to the “F” of Faith to help charities or social causes Would a regular job allow me to have time and money to live the way I wanted and to be able to split the income stream into those 5 areas? Would a regular start up business allow me to have time and money to have the life I wanted? If the answer is no, then we have to look for a better pathway or life model. Would a life and business model like this be even possible? A better question would be: is there any other person in the world that has a better quality of life (balanced 4fs configuration)? 17
  • 24. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com If the answer is yes, then they must be thinking and doing things in a different way. They have the same 24 hour days that I have. And, the answer is YES. There are great leaders living a balanced 4F lifestyle and even better, they are building their wealth too. Obviously, this new or different life-business model has a conflict with our “old school” paradigm. According to the traditional paradigms of our society, we work all the way around. We find a job or start a business and with the time that we have left afterwards (if any) and with the money that we generate we settle for a quality of life that we can afford (most of the times we struggle to make ends meet). -Do you relate? When I did this exercise, I realized that I had to “WORK SMARTER” than what I had done so far. If you are interested in doing this exercise, you will have access to it on Step 1 of my roadmap. So, keep going. How does this exercise relate to changing other people’s lives, life purpose and wealth building? What will we accomplish together? If you have a balanced life, you will have a greater impact in your family and community. You will become a role model. So far, we’ve already gone through a generalized idea of a BIG WHY, which is changing your life so that you help us change 1,000,000 families’ lives in terms of health, love and/or finance covering at least 200 communities in the next 10 years. This is an impossible goal for 1 person, but a very doable goal if we unite efforts in a mastermind model. So, instead of 1 person trying to be good at everything, we are assembling a Global Expansion Network, which is a mastermind team that I want you to be a part of. To learn more about this international network go to www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com 18
  • 25. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com What do I need from you to join us? I need you to take your stand with your expertise: what specifically do you know how to do that will improve people’s quality of life in terms of health, love and/or finance? Let’s have a breakdown of that approach where you might have personal or family experience on how to solve different problems: In terms of health: • Problem 1: High level of sugar in the blood stream has become an international disease that has hit and hurt millions of families throughout the world. There are a lot of opportunities trying to solve this global problem, whether it is working with families that already have victims or at the prevention stage, helping families to eradicate the problem before it even starts. • Problem 2: Different body organs not working properly cause different diseases that have harmed families beyond the affected person, creating a tough economic hardship for all family members. Is there anything you know that can help families prevent or improve their current situation while facing these illnesses? Start today and help us alleviate those families in pain. Just like these illnesses, there are many other health problems that are hurting our community. Do you have a specific skill or key information that we should share with the world to make it a better place? Join our movement now and let’s leave the world better than the way we found it. In terms of love: • Problem 3: the divorce rate has sky rocketed in the last decades leaving a lot of children alone, in most cases with low self esteem, low education, low nutrition and low expectations for the future, which will lead into a more violent society. Do you know how to improve relationships in a way that we reduce the divorce rate and the current social disintegration consequences we are having? 19
  • 26. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com • Problem 4: the actual rhythm of life in plenty of cities throughout the world makes both parents to be very busy with their own lives and they do not spend quality and quantity time with their kids. We are facing consequences today of plenty of social problems derived of the lack of parents’ presence and expressions of love to their kids, not material gifts but quality and quantity of time. Do you know how to improve the kids-parents relationship in a way that we build a better society? Just like these 2 social problems, we have a lot more to address as a society like gangs, drugs, sexual disorders, school dropout rates, and so on. What are you willing and courageous enough to start and lead so that you take a stand against our current love or social problems? In terms of finance: • Problem 5: Young professionals are having a hard time to find a job after they finish college. There is a large number of these young people that do not know how to find a job or how to prepare their resume and plan a long term career. Do you know how to guide these young professionals to find a job or start a profitable business avoiding unemployment and its consequences? • Problem 6: The increasing cost of living in our communities has brought poverty to more families, regardless of the type of work that they perform. Their purchasing power has gone down making it difficult for families to support their kids in terms of food, health and education. Do you know of a way or a business model or idea in which you could show families a better way to make a living finding an equilibrium between their financial results and their quality of life? As far as education: • Problem 7: Most of the previous mentioned problems come from the lack of adequate education and inspiration that our environment provides our students when they are young. There are 3 things in education that, if we align them together with a clear vision of the future, they will bring success to our community: skills, knowledge and attitude. Do you know how to build specific programs to teach skills, knowledge 20
  • 27. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com and to inspire the right attitude in our students to push our community forward? Are you ready to TAKE A STAND against any of these problems to avoid illness, misery and all the social disorders that we have? These are just general problems. As we dig deep into local communities, we will find far more problems than the 7 we are mentioning. Will we just sit and watch without doing anything? I met a nurse about 3 years ago who has declared war on leukemia. She saw her father die and she couldn’t do anything about it. That’s what pushed her to study and prepare herself professionally (skills and knowledge) to help other people. From that moment on, whenever she has faced a patient who is near death, she says “NOT ON MY SHIFT” (attitude), and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to help her patient step out of that problem. Do you have the same will, courage, strength and burning desire to help others? So, what do you already know that can make an impact in people’s lives? People need to have a leader who shows them that their prayers will be answered. They also want, through your guidance, to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You will become the miracle they are waiting for. So, if you had no chance to fail, are you ready to get started? My personal vision in numbers: I will help 20,000 committed leaders to change our world by converting their expertise, knowledge and skills into international programs that we will together implement in 200 communities for the next 10 years. How will we accomplish the goal of reaching 1,000,000 families? I am starting a speaking engagement tour where I will personally or virtually touch 200 communities in the next 10 years. At each community, where I will be recruiting at least 100 committed leaders willing to embrace 21
  • 28. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com this mission (that’s how we get to 20,000). All we need is that at least half of those committed leaders (like you) make an impact in at least 100 families, and that’s how we get to 1,000,000. Here is the breakdown of social entrepreneurs and agents of change that I am after from each community: • I am after at least 20 courageous physicians (doctors, dentists, surgeons, etc) who are willing to take a stand against specific illnesses by developing tactical programs to educate, train and push our communities forward. • I am after at least 20 courageous counselors (psychologists, pastors, social workers, trainers, coaches, etc) who are willing to take a stand against our social disintegration problems by developing tactical programs to improve family relationships to preserve and grow together a community with a strong moral value code and long term vision. • I am after at least 20 courageous entrepreneurs, young minds who are willing to take a stand against misery by developing tactical programs and new business models that will bring hope and opportunities to young generations and unemployed people, being able to expand at an international level in the shape of business licenses, franchises, branches or distributorships. • I am after at least 20 courageous business decision makers who are willing to stand against poor business performance results as a consequence of the lack of tactical skills, habits, knowledge and attitude by developing programs to train young professionals at an international level that will push companies and communities forward. • I am after at least 20 courageous teachers who are willing to take a stand to develop training programs to develop habits, skills, knowledge and the needed attitude to create better leaders, entrepreneurs, business decision makers and parents. Are you in any of those 5 groups? Our community needs you! What’s in it for you? 22
  • 29. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com What does this new possibility offers you in exchange of changing lives? • You will have the privilege and transcendental satisfaction to make something that truly matters with your life and expertise by helping thousands and perhaps even millions of people and families improve their lives because you were brave enough to take YOUR STAND. Very few people ever see and take on opportunities like this. • You will have the unique opportunity to balance your life between your family, fitness-health, faith-community and finance and to make your future generations to be proud of you. • You will have an opportunity to build multiple passive income streams, a retirement endless fund that, if developed and nurtured adequately, will bring a solid platform for your family and generations to come. Are you in? Let’s get back to the numbers of the impact we are going to make in our community. The best case-scenario would be that the numbers in this model would be replicated through a ripple effect, so that each one of the committed leaders would reach 20,000 families in a 10 year program too, and that hypothetical number would lead us to impact 200,000,000 families in the world. However, we are playing a very conservative and at the same time a very ambitious goal of changing 1,000,000 families’ lives. Can you imagine the difference that we will make in this world? What do we need? First of all, we need your will, enthusiasm and courage to work together as a team. The rest is just unfolding our knowledge, experience and skills to truly unleash our potential and make a difference in our community. Are you ready to join our Mission? In the next chapter I will cover some current life models that are not working in terms of having a balanced life between the 4Fs (Family, Fitness, Faith & Finance) as we explained in chapter 1. Then we will review the system in which we can kick start a program to balance our lives and help 23
  • 30. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com others, including strategies, tactics and tools at each one of the steps. Are you ready? Let’s get going! 24
  • 31. Chapter 3 Life models that don’t work anymore So far, we’ve covered the reasons why we must launch a program like this and we have covered a glimpse of the impact we are going to make in our community by working together. Before we get into our 7 step system to find your life purpose and start building your wealth, I want to cover some life models that are not currently working towards having a balanced life in the 4Fs (Family, Fitness, Faith & Finance), which is an “old school” type of life: • Life model 1: The executive lifestyle The average person in this type of lifestyle has a regular 8 or 9 hour day job, 5 days a week for 50 weeks a year for 30 years or more. Those who want to climb up the corporate ladder will have to commit to more hours of their time working on additional projects or attending events for public relations purposes and hanging out with their bosses or customers. This employee can become successful with time. However, to accomplish a good income level, it might take them more than 15 years. Since most of their work years, they have a certain lifestyle to support, they have little money to save for a retirement fund. Most of these employees don’t have the time to be present at important events with their families. Rarely will they find the time or motivation to practice physical activities to maintain a good health condition. Rarely will they find the time to support social causes in our community. Something interesting is that when you interview someone who is over 55 years old who lived under this type of lifestyle, they have a lot of regrets on the way they lived. 25
  • 32. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com They regret not having spent more time with their families, including spouse and kids, especially not being present at important events that happened only once in a lifetime. They regret not having prevented their health problems at a younger age, including taking action with a balanced diet, practicing sports and sleeping enough time. They regret not having designed a financial strategy that would allow them to have a retirement fund that would give them the time to do what they wanted without having to work. They regret not having connected with more people and helped them over their lives, especially since they could have helped young professionals to avoid long learning curves and costly mistakes. Do you relate with this lifestyle? Do you want to reach that point in life full of regrets or do you want to do something about it? As I covered in the previous chapters, not only have I personally met high executives of large corporations who traded their first 3 Fs (family, fitness and faith) in exchange of money, but also, I have done that same thing for several years now. Fortunately, there is still time to change this scenario, which is the purpose of this book, program and lifestyle proposal. The time is NOW, read life model 3 and if you feel like you want to make the best out of the years to come, read and implement the system outlined on this book and then apply to be a part of our international program with like-minded people who will look after one another helping us move forward and endure in those 4 Fs the way we want to. • Life model 2: The professional business owner lifestyle This model represents most professional service providers like dentists, lawyers, physicians, psychologists, architects, consultants, plumbers, restaurant owners, hair stylists, marketers, and any professional who owns his or her own business trying to serve others. 26
  • 33. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com Unlike the executive from life model 1, this professional service provider doesn’t have a boss. They are their own boss. They fill in their schedule trying to make a living. Most of them work around 12 hour days 5 to 7 days a week for their entire work life. Most of them have one or several assistants, however, they are the experts at their business and that is the reason they have a hard time to unfold their practice and expand. They become their own financial limit. Rarely do they have the time or income level to prepare a retirement fund. Rarely do they have time to spend it with their families. They neglect their health because of trying to find or fulfill their own customers, or because they run most of their errands. Instead of talking about them, I am going to share my personal story. I owned a small food business a few years ago. I used to work 20 hour days 6 days a week. I used to open at 6 AM and close at 2 AM. I learned a lot about dealing with customers, employees, suppliers, compliance, and so on. After 2 years of practically having no time for my family, health or connecting with my community and much less saving money, I decided to close the business. I was going nowhere. I was trading all that I valued for nothing. As part of my business and marketing consultancy practice, which I have performed on the side, I tend to question my clients or friends a lot when they say that they want to open a restaurant as a financial and income strategy. Not because of the restaurant, but because of the life model they will get by running that business. This applies to a lot of businesses. This way of thinking and feeling has been shared by some restaurant owners who have expressed they would sell their restaurants and begin from scratch in order to regain their lives. What does regaining their leaves means? They would spend more time with their loved ones; they would assign time to practice sports 27
  • 34. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com and to preserve and maintain a good health level because of their diet; they would connect with more people; and they would design a retirement fund strategy different than the one they currently have. Most of us have met professionals like doctors over 60 years old still at their practice because if they retire they will stop receiving income. If you fit in this profile, make sure you reverse this consequences by planning ahead of time and taking action. There is hope, and there surely is a way of having a different lifestyle. See life model 3 and then go through the 7 step system that will help you change your lifestyle. Then join our international group that will help you endure through your life with this type of life model. • Life model 3: The alternative lifestyle Is there a better way of living than any of the first 2 life models? The answer is YES. If you fall into the category of any of the 2 previous models where you are trading time for money, being time your financial roof, there is an opportunity for you: You can transform your expertise and know-how into multiple streams of income at an international level allowing you to step out of the day-to-day operational equation. This means that if you already know how to improve people’s lives in terms of health, love or finance; if through your experience you have already solved problems in these fields, then there might be an opportunity that will allow you to change your life. What if you could create a system that would help people solve their problems and to then print it and publish it in different vehicles to be sold internationally? Would these vehicles help you break the time-money barrier you currently have? 28
  • 35. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com What would you do with the extra time that you would have if you would be able to earn in 2 hours or 2 days what it usually takes you a full time shift for a whole month? Would you spend more time with your family? Would you practice a hobby? Would you spend your extra time helping other people? Would you like to travel or just sit back and relax? Would you prepare an investment strategy that would allow you to retire at a younger age than you planned before? All of this is possible, if you plan adequately and take action. We are in an information era and if you can help people save time, energy and money in their process to get out of illness, rejection and misery and if you are smart enough to transmit it internationally leveraging on technology and networking platforms, then those people will be willing to pay you for what you know building a wealth system for you. Does this sound like a good idea for you? Let me share several success stories of people who made the shift that I am trying to get across in this chapter. Jeff Walker, the owner of Product Launch Formula started his business from home with 21 people in his database and just an idea of a newsletter. He was unemployed at the time. He converted his experience into an information newsletter that he started collecting money from. Years later, he appears very rarely in public and he lives the way he wants to with his family. However, he makes a very good living because of having transformed his expertise into something people needed and would pay for. Armand Morin is another example of this story. He builds information products on the area of internet marketing. He trains 29
  • 36. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com people throughout the world. Armand used to say that he gave his lectures for free and yet he was the best hourly paid speaker in the world because of his conversion rate to convince customers to buy his products. Just as them, we could share the stories from plenty of thought leaders like Mike Koenigs, Loral Langemeier, Dani Johnson, Brendon Burchard, Paul Colligan, Frank Rumbauskas, Kevin Nations, Frank Kern, Russell Brunson, James Malinchak, Ali Brown, Yaro Starak, Maria Andros, Mark Joyner, Dave Vanhoose, Darren Hardy, Bryan Tracy, Clate Mask, Muhammad Yunus, and so on. You can google all of them and learn from what they do and how they balance it with who they are and their 4 Fs. So, are you ready to get started? Where do you begin? First of all, it begins with a strong WILL and BURNING DESIRE to change your life. To reinforce this attitude mixed with courage, I suggest you read the book of “Think and grow rich” by Napoleon Hill. It will give you a great starting point of the kind of spirit that we need out of you to make things happen. Most of the people around us will try to convince us that this model is a fantasy. However, just as Brian Tracy said before: “if somebody in the world could do it, then you can also do it, for both of you have the same 24 hours in the day. It’s just a matter of what skills, knowledge and attitude to develop and nurture to get to that state” So, how do you begin? In order to make this lifestyle model work, 3 conditions have to be met: • You have to have the WILL and BURNING DESIRE to make a difference in this world and to balance the 4Fs in your life. • You have to have proven experience on how to achieve measurable 30
  • 37. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com results of some kind in terms of health, love or finance (running a business) and there has to be a large audience at an international level who is hungry and willing to learn and pay for what you know in order to improve their day-to-day lives. • You will have to go through the 7 step system outlined in this book that will guide you to create your own program and to prepare your schedule and mindset to balance your 4Fs. Are you ready to take this shift? Let’s now review the 7 steps! 31
  • 38. Chapter 4: The 7 step roadmap find your purpose and become wealthy In the previous chapters I was explaining that I developed a step-by-step system to change your life and become wealthy by helping others. So here it is. This is a 7 step program that if you follow it and implement it, you will become an important part of the solution that our society needs by changing the way we live in terms of health, love of finance. Let’s have an overview of what you’ll get in each step now: Step 1: Design your ideal life map – This step will show you how to prioritize what really matters to you in terms of daily activities so that you dedicate time to what is important. You will learn how to dedicate time to your health and family so that you can become a true story of someone who can then help others without abandoning your person, spouse and kids. You will be able to work this for different timeframes, starting with different vision terms and finally getting down to your present life. Takeaways: you will be able to plot your ideal annual schedule, consolidate and prioritize your values. Step 2: Design your wealth strategy This step will help you determine your financial rules based on your values that will set the ground basis for the sources of income you will need to create and nurture to allow you to enjoy life according to your ideal life map. At this stage, it’s important to determine the level of involvement in the multiple streams of income that you will need to create in several time frames. At the beginning, most of your income streams will require your talent and time, but we will design a vision so that each income stream turns from active to passive mode generating strategies that altogether will allow 32
  • 39. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com you to create wealth in your life. Takeaways: you will be able to create your own financial code and your wealth strategy map including the development of multiple passive income streams. Step 3: Find your purpose in life This step will show you the best opportunity you will have in terms of the audience that you can help the most, specifically with what you already know, whether they are kids with a certain disease, mothers with a certain education or economic problem, male adults with economic or heath problems or whatever specific group of people and problem you feel best to serve. At this stage, you will be able to find the international locations where your expertise and help are needed. You will also be able to develop a business model out of your program so that you can dedicate your best resources to solve the problem without excuses of lack of time because of your current working status. Takeaways: you will be able to find your purpose in life by determining the best type of people you would help to solve health, love or finance problems. You will also be able to find all the organizations and leaders who will help you accomplish your mission and purpose in life and you will be able to have a very measurable goal as to how many people you will help. Step 4: Create your system This step will show you how to create a step-by-step system including success stories and clear tactical instructions to solve the problem you are trying to approach. You will structure your steps in a sequence that when followed by your audience, they will reach the desired state. Remember, you will plant the seed of faith in people and through your system, they will be able to walk themselves out of their health, love or finance problem. At this stage, you will be able to create an assessment so that your audience has the opportunity of determining where they are and their progress as they move along your step-by-step system and even touch base with you or your support group when they need assistance. Takeaways: you will be able to structure your step-by-step system. You 33
  • 40. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com will be able to develop an assessment that will help your audience to measure their current situation and develop a plan to get to an ideal scenario. Step 5: Create value for your system This step will show you how to fill your system with strategic value, which is the content that will guide your audience as they move along your program. At this stage you will be able to explain the meaning of each step of your system and how to apply it supported with success stories. Takeaways: you will learn how to create value for your system, including concepts, stories and tasks to accomplish that step. Step 6: Package your system At this stage, you already have a system and contents. Now it’s time to determine how you will package your expertise to become successful, starting with the name you will give your program. You will learn how to transform your information into different products, such as home study programs, sets of DVDs, audio recordings or MP3s, books, seminars, workshops, ebooks, lectures, webinars, teleconferences, and so on. You will learn how to create an adequate sequencing starting with frontend programs like lectures, webinars or teleconferences and then offering mid-end products, such as audio recordings, video recordings in DVDs. Finally, you will learn how to craft your back-end programs, like seminars, coaching programs, mastermind groups, and so on. Takeaways: you will determine all the marketing vehicles that will convey your valuable information to your audience, generating multiple income streams. Step 7: Launch your marketing strategy You will learn at this stage how to prepare the content for each one of the 7 stages of the customer attraction and retention cycle. This will include 34

  • 42. Chapter 4: Step 1 – Design your ideal Life Map This step will show you how to prioritize what really matters to you in terms of daily activities so that you dedicate time to what is important. You will learn how to dedicate time to your health and family so that you can become a true story of someone who can then help others without abandoning your person, spouse and kids. We have to always start with our immediate WHY, which is the responsibility we acquired with before God to guide our family and to add value to our community while we live on this Earth. Several of the coaching programs that I took in the past always asked me about how my family and personal life were (point A) and how I wanted them to really be (point B). There is always a gap between the 2 (at least for me). The hard question came when I had to plot my daily activities and plans to move from point A to point B. In my mind I wanted to live differently, but with my daily actions I continued to being stuck at point A. Why would I obtain different results (point B) if I was doing the same everyday routine (point A)? Do you relate? Let me share my personal story about this ideal life map: the gap between where I was and where I wanted to be. I used to work 15 hour days, sometimes 6 to 7 days a week. I used to work a full time job as a marketing manager of a company dedicated to attract foreign companies to different regions, meaning that I had to travel frequently, or even if I stayed in town, I used to spend all of that time at the office or with people who were not my family. On the side I used to teach several marketing graduate courses at 2 different universities. On top of that, I had my own marketing agency where I had clients with different types of services: design and launch of marketing campaigns, feasibility studies, product design, and so on. Since I was managing campaigns and teaching about marketing at the same time, I had to continuously study, read books, reports, newsletters, 36
  • 43. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com attend webinars, teleconferences and whenever possible, leave everything behind and take trips on training seminars. Can you imagine what kind of family, health and faith life I was having? I did not have time for any of them. I understood the importance of having a balanced life at a conceptual or philosophical level, but when it got down to tactical day-to-day activities, that philosophy was gone. I recall one day when my daughter approached me enthusiastically because she was going to graduate from kindergarten. She was counting on me to be there. I had to travel on that specific day and I missed the whole thing. This same situation repeated itself with my other 2 kids, until one day my second son asked my wife: “Why does my dad not love me? He doesn’t show up at our school events but I see the other kids’ parents there.” Can you imagine how I felt when I heard my wife telling me what my son had asked her? What was even worse: if I didn’t have time for those events, much less was I going to have time to grow and nurture values and virtues with my kids. Has that ever happened to you? Obviously, I had plenty of good excuses for not showing up at those events, especially since I was working to get the money that paid for all of those events, tuition, tournaments, festivals and so on. However, despite the quantity of work that I was taking, I wasn’t rich, much less wealthy. I was definitely trading all my time for very little. These excuses were reinforced with the paradigms of my peers who used to say “that’s life”, “that’s how it’s supposed to be” My colleagues at work, all of them went through the same experiences over and over again. We all traveled and had “important meetings with customers” and therefore, we had to abandon our families and miss those more important moments. It impressed me even more that the VP level executives of those organizations were living practically a lonely life at work and they had no time for their families. One of them expressed to me once that he had taken 46 trips in that 52 week year. Was that supposed to be my 37
  • 44. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com future if I wanted to climb up the corporate ladder? No wonder why the divorce rate is high and there are social problems at school with teenagers. Later on, when I decided to start investing in my professional coaching I was shown that there is a different way of living. In one of Brian Tracy’s seminars, he shared how he was able to plan with his wife a business-life model with “NO REGRETS” where their family was first, and every time there was a conflict between family and work, a change needed to take place on the business side. That was the first time I saw someone living and working differently. A life model designed by its actors instead of being designed by their social environment. I went to other programs with different business leaders and I was impressed how all of them would give God and family a privileged position in their agendas. Not in a philosophical way, but in a tactical way of living. So, there is a different way of living. I just had not been educated under that type of life format. Do you remember the 4f (Family, Fitness, Faith and Finance) assessment I mentioned in chapter 1? I had to plot my life as it was and then as I wanted it to be. Then I had to plan and build a bridge to get from one point to the other. I had to commit to a specific date to make things happen, which is hard for most of us because it forces us out of our comfort zone. I had to think on my bridge and then to take action. That’s when it truly became hard. Why was it so hard to get what I wanted? I have to admit that I was afraid to change. Besides, there was a big distance between my philosophical values and how I put them in practice on a day-to-day basis to change my 4Fs. 38
  • 45. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com I started planning and taking baby steps towards getting to the life I wanted, but still, it took me about 2 years to take the first leap of faith. What triggered the decision? I recall I said that I was going to take action and make my life better at a certain date. Then, I got buried in work and I lost track of time. I lost 1 full year without even noticing that my kids were growing and that I had just become a bunch of good ideas but nothing more than that. Then in the last few months, my purchasing power started going down due to inflation and despite the efforts that I had made to be with my family, I had to get back to the past rhythm of life that I mentioned before. Later on, during the summer, I fainted. I lost control of my body and mind for a couple of seconds or minutes –I don’t really know how long it was. I had to go to the doctor to get my brain scanned. The doctor said everything was fine, but he recommended that I had to look for balance in my life. A month later, my wife got injured and she had to go into surgery making us stay several days in the hospital. These events together were strong wake up calls. If it is true that we will live only once, would I want to continue living the way I was? Since I didn’t want to continue that way, I had to take action. I decided to change my life for good. Not only that, but also I want to help other families regain their lives. I want to help family leaders to live a life by design, by choice and with a social sense of making our world a better place to live. That is the reason I decided to develop this international program. I had to force me to create a schedule that I would respect and commit to, so that I could measure progress and see exactly where I was spending my time and money. 39
  • 46. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com I had to work with my wife and kids to go through the same exercise. This part took energy. But if I wanted to see results in the long run and live a life with “NO REGRETS”, I needed to start taking the needed steps. I had to make a list of the skills, habits, knowledge and attitude or spirit that I wanted to develop in my person and in my kids, thinking especially in the long term. Then I needed to convert all of those items in the list into daily activities that would truly make a difference in my way of spending time, money and energy. Those daily activities would make the difference with time. There is a personal experience that I had in a class that I took with the US Army as part of a class in college. It was a survival exercise and they took us to the desert in New Mexico. We needed to walk 5 miles to get to the pickup point using a compass only. When we started walking, it was hard for us to determine with precision the degrees in the compass, especially when the difference is between 1 and 2 degrees. The problem was that when we walked the 5 miles, those 2 degrees opened a radius of distance and it led us into not getting to the desired exact spot. This experience show exactly what can happen to us in life when we do not pay close attention to the little daily activities we do and how we perform them. If we think in the long term, what we do and how we do it will bring a very different story. Just to give one more example, reading a book or 2 won’t necessarily make us more productive or smarter than other people. However, reading 1 book per week, 50 weeks a year for 10 years, will yield us 500 books that will make you stand out against the crowd. Those 500 books will have taught you to learn and absorb information, as well as to give you perspective to make more informed decisions. They will give you abbreviated experience and you will be able to learn from other people’s success and failure stories. How can you apply this example in a tactical way to develop the skills, knowledge, attitude and habits that you want to have as an individual or family? What type of experiences and memories would you want to build? If you wanted to develop love for nature and a sense of caring for living beings in your kids while you hang out with them, why not learning to take professional photographs and videos 1 hour a day with them? Why not 40

How many positive memories, skills and attitudes can you build doing this? How would these daily and weekly activities impact on the way your kids think and behave after 10 years? Well, enough about me, my stories and examples for now. Now let’s get to your side of the story. Let’s get your numbers right to try to define point A (where you are right now) and point B (where you want to be). Then, what we will try to do is to build a bridge that will allow you to get from one point to the other, instead of drifting around with regret for the rest of your life. To start with this stage, I would like to ask you to think and reflect on the following exercise and answer the questions as though there were no limits as far as time and money. The second task we will work on is your values, and we will get not only to define them according to your life standards, but we will compare your philosophical vs. your tactical values. Ready? Go now to http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com and login in the FREE LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP. Then go to STEP 1 and download the document titled “Design your Ideal Life Map Exercise”. Print it, follow the instructions and start filling it out. You will get some samples and templates that you will be able to use as a fill-in-theblank tool. On that same page, you will have a list of recommended reading and videos that I encourage you to go through. Once you have finished your life map, you will get a chance to think, reflect and work on your value system, which will become the way in which you and your family do what you do and most importantly the WHY. I truly hope you design a great life plan for you and your family, and if you accept, I want to invite you to join our international group of families willing and courageous enough to change the world. 41
  • 48. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com In the next step, we will cover a strategy to develop your wealth code, which is how you will set numbers to run your personal and family life, thinking always on the years to come. This coming step will be the second most important ingredient of your life map, which are the numbers you will have to determine and respect in order to move your life forward. Ready? 42
  • 49. Chapter 6: Step 2 – Design your Wealth Strategy and Code This step will help you determine your wealth strategy and code based on your own values. It will set the ground basis for the sources of income you will need to create and nurture to allow you to enjoy life according to your ideal life map. What do we mean by wealth strategy and code? It means all the principles that will guide your decision making process as to what projects you decide to take and which projects you decline or reject. So the big question here is: What do you want out of your life? When will you say YES and when will you say NO to whatever opportunity or crossroads you face in life? This could be a hard question to answer only, and only if you are not certain about what you want in life. What do we need to make this work? We need to develop our own lanes that allow us to endure on our path to achieve the lifestyle we want and the goals we are pursuing. Let me share my personal story here: If you recall from the previous chapters, I said that I was very busy. Was I equally profitable from all the activities I did compared on an hourly basis? No. Was I declining the invitations from clients, courses or jobs that were not very profitable for me? No Was I looking actively for projects that would yield me a specific amount of income per hour and with a long term vision? No I was just busy, saying yes to every single opportunity that I had. Why? Because I thought of all of them as marginal or extra income. That’s what brought me those 16 hour days. 43
  • 50. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com What I didn’t realize is that I was exhausting my energy in projects that would not yield me or my kids a future income stream or wealth. In addition to that, I used to compare myself to other people I met or even to my own previous performance years, and I thought I was doing great. My perspective changed when I started going through the training programs that I told you. I realized that I wasn’t building equity, wealth or anything my kids could inherit. They would never inherit all the hours I was spending in the type of activities that I was taking. So, what was the purpose of doing them? Mere survival? So, after I worked on my ideal life map and values, I had to confront myself and either work on rearranging my schedule or definitely realizing that certain values were not in the priority level that I had philosophically assigned to them. Then came the time to work on my wealth strategy and code. The first time I worked on trying to put my wealth code together, I had not completed my ideal life map and values thoroughly. So, it was kind of hard to think on specific rules or principles that would apply for the present and future. However, I had to put my brain to work. How can you start working on your wealth strategy and code? I assume you already have your ideal life map (your 4F schedule) and value code. Now let’s set solid principles that you will look to respect throughout your life. This will become your own legacy code that you will have to honor if you want to transcend and have a positive impact on your descendants. I am going to give you some examples and stories. Then I will give you the action steps and templates to start working on your own wealth strategy and code. Example 1: Let’s suppose that according to your ideal life map, you said that you were going to work on your business 4 hours per day, 5 days per week, 4 weeks per month, 10 months per year. That yields us 800 working hours per year. 44
  • 51. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com Additionally, just to put round numbers in this example, let’s assume you need $150,000 dollars per year to support your other 3 Fs (family, fitness and faith) splitting your income in the 5 different areas that we covered previously (45% necessities, 15% entertainment and trips, 15% long term investments, 15% special goods and 10% for charities. This breakdown implies that with 45% of $150,000 dollars you would need to cover all your necessities per year. That equals $67,500 dollars. If you require more than that, adjust your numbers accordingly when you run this exercise). When you divide $150,000 dollars by 800 working hours, that means that you have to earn at least $187.50 dollars per hour. Let’s suppose you are an entrepreneur, business decision maker or consultant. If it takes you 20 hours to land a contract and 20 hours to fulfill the contract you just signed, you have to offer a product or service that yields you $7,500 dollars (this is for you only, that means after operating expenses). So, what can you offer of good value that people or companies would pay you for at that rate? Start thinking about it. Let’s get back. According to how we configured this example, you would create a wealth principle for your code that would read as follows: “I will commit only to contracts that yield me $7,500 dollars for 20 hours of fulfillment” (marketing actions included). Now, it’s important to notice that under these circumstances you only have 800 hours per year and it takes you 40 hours to get and fulfill 1 client. This means that you have an annual capacity of serving only 20 clients. How can you earn more money without working more hours? Think on this for some minutes. 45
  • 52. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com You have several options: you can hire and train more people to do what you do in order to grow, you can automate certain processes, you can develop a recurring service model so that each client that you attract would stay with you, and so on. To make your time worthwhile and so that you achieve the number that you have determined, you will have to outsource or automate as many errands as possible. That means that before you do any errand, you will have to ask yourself if what you are going to do for the next hour or day will yield you the amount of dollars you need and that there is no one better and less expensive than you to actually do it. To give you an example, just because you know how to design your own website (supposing you have this skill), that doesn’t mean that you have to do it. There is a very strong reason for this: let’s suppose that developing your own website will take 20 hours of your time (that only because you are very good at doing it). Based on the $187.50 dollars that you have to earn per hour, that means that your website will cost you $3750 dollars when you can hire someone to do it for less than 50% of your cost. This is just an example, but that’s how most of the business owners leave money on the table for not focusing their time on income generating activities. What’s interesting about this point, is that most business owners started their business to earn money and yet, they spend 90% of their time performing tasks that do not generate an income. I’ve had this discussion several times with plenty of business owners who are very task-oriented. So, instead of having a mental argument with me about this example, I invite you to run your own numbers and determine if it’s better to hire someone to do that task or to do it yourself. There’s a quote from Dani Johnson that I want to share on this regards: “confront your ego against your bank account”. If you want to improve your results, then you will have to eliminate all your prejudice and opinions that might be holding you back. Remember, you want to start this business because you want to balance your 4Fs, not because you are so in love with performing certain tasks that you forget about the big picture. So, another wealth principle for your code could be derived from this example: 46
  • 53. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com “I will commit to doing income generating activities (marketing and selling) 85% of the time, 5% to strategy (planning) and 10% to executive errands (that nobody else can perform in your business)” Remember that all of these values and principles will be a determining factor for your success in life. So make sure that when you go down to your calendar of activities you consider them in the planning stage and that you audit your performance every week. This will allow you to continuously improve what you do, and obviously your results. Getting back to your income numbers and principles, they will become very important discrimination criteria for you: Every business opportunity that you get that yields you less than those $7,500 dollars for every 20 hours of work is not an opportunity for you. So, don’t take it. Don’t look for that type of clients. Let’s add one more variable to this example. Let’s assume that, since you do not want to spend half of the time doing marketing activities for the next 20 years, you will look only for contracts that bring in recurring revenue. So, your wealth principle would now be: “I will commit only to contracts that yield $7,500 dollars for 20 hours of fulfillment as long as they bring recurring revenue” That means that if the new contract yields $7,500 dollars, but doesn’t bring you a monthly, quarterly or yearly subscription, then you would reject the client. It sounds hard, but that’s the only way you will be able to grow your wealth and maintain a life balance. In the next steps we will work on your business model, this step is only to set the wealth principles that will guide you in the decision making process of setting up your business aligned to your ideal life map and life purpose. Now, let’s determine your level of involvement in your business, which will allow you to grow your wealth. Let’s assume that you do not want to work in the fulfillment side of the operation of your business for the next 20 years. That means that you will do it at the beginning so that you set the standards of it based on your 47
  • 54. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com experience. Then you will recruit and train others to do it. This will allow you to step out of the operational equation so that you can create more streams of income. Out of this new assumption, a new set of wealth principles could be developed, that would read like this: “I will commit to recruiting and training human capital for every income stream (business) so that I work ON my business instead of IN my business” “I will commit to starting a different income stream every 6 months for the next 10 years” “I will commit to create 10 income streams that generate each $75,000 dollars per year without requiring me to have an operating role in the business” Remember, at the beginning of every business start up, most of your income streams will require your talent and time, but here is where you have to design a vision and operating plan so that each income stream turns from active to passive mode generating strategies that altogether will allow you to create wealth in your life. How can you achieve that? You can transform your expertise and knowledge and instead of charging $187.50 dollars per hour, you can sell your expertise in the shape of information products (seminars, home study systems, etc) and break the time-money barrier. You can develop as many wealth principles as you want. Just remember that they will be your guide on your decision making process and that all together will allow you to get to your 4F balance. Before we wrap up this chapter, it is important that you align your ideal life map with your values and wealth strategy and code. Make sure you do it with a long term vision. There is no right or wrong answer to this exercise because in the end it will be a matter of if you got what you wanted out of life or not. Are you ready to develop your wealth strategy and code? 48

  • 56. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com Chapter 7: Step 3 – Find your Purpose in Life This step will show you the best opportunity you will have in terms of the audience that you can help the most, specifically with what you already know, whether they are kids with a certain disease, mothers with a certain education or economic problem, male adults with economic or heath problems or whatever specific group of people and problem you feel best to serve. I know that because of our age, we can serve a lot of people with different circumstances, but how can I make the most impactful effect on people at an international level? Remember, you have only one life. That means that we have to make sure you make the most out of it, and that our community gets the best version of you. Whatever field you choose to embrace, as several coaches say: “don’t die with that music inside of you” Our community needs to hear what you have to say! For example, with my own experience, I am going to list some of the different audiences I could serve: • I could help high school students to select a profitable career • I could help college students to find a job • I could help entrepreneurs to select profitable ideas and to start their own business. • I could help school teachers create engaging materials and classes • I could help workers to improve their career skills to get a promotion • I could help economic developers to attract foreign investment to their regions 50
  • 57. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com • I could help marketing professionals and business owners to attract and retain more customers in their business • I could help doctors to convert their knowledge into information products and vehicles that would transform people’s lives • I could help preachers and pastors to convert their message into different marketing vehicles allowing them to reach a broader audience The list could go on and on. If I had to prioritize them. Where would I make the most impact? There is an opportunity cost implied when I choose one of those options instead of the other ones. So, if I want to find my true purpose in life, I have to put all of these options into perspective and compare them with specific indicators. The list of options that I mentioned are real options that I have thought of where I personally can work on. Since I wanted to create a long term and lasting impact, I needed to filter those options with key indicators so that I wouldn’t take the decision on “gut” feelings or hunches. So, I developed a matrix where I got to pair up my skills, abilities and knowledge in the shape of transformational products with the different audiences I could serve. This matrix brings you plenty of options to work on, each one making a very specific business case and life model. Then, I used 20 indicators to filter those options, where I would assign a value from 1 to 5 depending on how complicated or how easy it would be for me to launch that program. This matrix allowed me to find, at least at the beginning with rough numbers where my best opportunity was. The results that the matrix gave me, showed me which options to eliminate and which ones to postpone for a future developmental stage, where I would create the next income stream. Right now, all of these numbers might sound to you like abstract ideas, 51
  • 58. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com but once you run this model, you will see very tangible differences. Let me give you an example where I used this matrix with a previous customer from my marketing agency: This was the business owner of a medical device manufacturing company and he wanted to serve 10 different audiences with 11 different types of service. It sounded like a good idea to him. However, when you try to get down to tactics like creating marketing materials with benefits, advantages and characteristics of each service adapted to each market, and then trying to advertise them in different targeted media and trade shows, it turned into 110 campaigns to launch. It’s impossible to become the best and most competitive option in 110 audience-service combinations. When we ran the model, the difference between the most competitive combination and the second one was of $10 million dollars per year. What would this difference mean for you, your knowledge and the impact in our community? If you know how to improve people’s lives in terms of health, how many more families would change their lives if you just focused on them to show them what you know? How can you become the number 1 leader of families on their way out of sickness, hate or poverty at an international level? Do you now realize the importance of running this matrix and selecting the audience-service where you can bring the highest impact in our community while building your wealth too? Let’s get moving. I invite you now to go to http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com, login on the FREE LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP and go to STEP 3 where you’ll be able to go through the videos shown there. • 59. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com code and wealth rules. Remember that you will not be able to serve others unless you start moving towards having a balanced life considering the 4 F filter (Family, Fitness, Faith and Finance). Once you are finished with the brainstorming, I invite you to download the matrix I was talking about in this chapter and then fill it out. Take your time to do this exercise, since this will help you determine your life purpose with very specific numbers that you will be able to measure as you grow old. If you feel you need assistance, share your questions or comments with us on our social networks like Facebook, Linked In or Twitter or contact us directly at http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com I wish you the best on accomplishing this task. Therefore, I encourage you to not be a lone ranger but to join our international support group. May you succeed with your endeavor and help as many people as you can over the course of your life. Once you have selected who you will serve to solve what, the next step is creating a step-by-step system, roadmap or blueprint. We will cover this in the next chapter. So, I’m going to let you go now to work on your matrix. May you find your purpose in life! 53
  • 60. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com Chapter 8: Step 4 – Create your system to help others Congratulations on making it this far! By now, you must have already determined your life purpose. You might already know who you are going to help to solve a health, love or financial problem, and you have found an international audience who desperately need your help. If, for whatever reason, you decide to change it, remember there is no right or wrong answer, so you can do it at any time. The good news is that you already know how to filter the best audienceservice combination with the assistance of the 20 key indicators that you saw in the matrix. This step will show you how to create a step-by-step system to solve the problem you are trying to approach. Remember, you will plant the seed of faith in people and through your system, they will be able to walk themselves out of their health, love or finance problem. How do you create a roadmap, system or blueprint? Some of the people who are suffering health, love or financial problems don’t know or think they don’t know how to find a pathway that will take them out of their misery. Some others don’t even know that there is a solution to the problem they have or think they have. To get started, you will need to describe or elicit the following states: • Desired state or point B (where they want to be in terms of health, love of finance) • Starting state or point A (where they are right now including pain points) • The “Gap” between A and B (pain points getting relieved) 54
  • 61. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com Then, since most of the people in your audience might already know this, it’s very important to develop a pathway or bridge to get from point A to point B. Try to break down that pathway into small and simple steps so that your audience doesn’t feel overwhelmed. There are plenty of experts that recommend that your key steps to get from point A to point B should be between 3 and 9 steps, usually with even numbers. If your system needs more than 9 steps, you could group several actions into 1 step so that you keep the total number below 2 digits. However, feel free to put as many steps as you think necessary. I am going to use as an example what I am doing with this book and program. I selected to help professionals to find their purpose in life by helping people to change their lives in terms of health, relationships and finance and to become wealthy, including a lifestyle in which they will be able to balance their 4Fs (Family, Fitness, Faith and Finance). How did I plot the sequence? First, on chapters 1 and 2, I tried to cover point B, which is establishing how we could live and the vision in numbers. Then, in chapter 3, I tried to cover point A, covering where we are right now, with different life models that don’t provide us with the life balance that we need. Then, in chapter 4, I gave you a brief summary of the roadmap or step by step system to get from point A to point B. Chapters 5 through 11 are the 7 steps I designed for this program. In Chapter 12 you will see the benefits of belonging to an international group of like-minded professional leaders like you as a global support group and the way in which you can apply to be a member. Since you already know what problem you are going to help other people solve, let’s begin brainstorming on the different steps they need to take. 55
  • 62. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com Try to answer the following questions throughout your system: How can they indentify that they have the problem you are trying to address? Are there any symptoms? What will happen to them if they do not change their current behavior or consumption? Will they die? Will they be abandoned by their spouse? Will they be in poverty? In how much time will this happen? What are the most common mistakes people make when trying to address this problem? What have they tried that has not worked? What has brought their faith down? Are there other people that they can relate to that had the same problem who overcame it? How did they do it? What type of assessment or diagnosis did they go through? What were their feelings and frustrations? How did they decide to take action to solve the problem? What attitudes and action steps could they imitate? Are there any scientific or business proven statistics and data that you could provide for those of them who are skeptical about the solution? Are there any common myths and misconceptions about the problem and solution? Are there any support groups where they can reach out for help? What else can you provide them with than enlightens them with hope? Try to reflect on all of these questions. Then go to http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com, and login on the FREE LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP and go to STEP 4 where you will be able to download the template, print it and start working on your system. Once again, think on all of these answers in terms the success you will have and bring to our community. 56
  • 63. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com Your faith in them solving the problem will be the number 1 ingredient you will need for this. The second very important ingredient will be the steps and guidelines that you provide them as though you were holding their hands along the way. If you connect with the right people and inspire them enough to take action, they will trust you and follow your framework. So don’t hesitate. Think your steps thoroughly and make sure you lead them to safe land. Should you want us to help you review your system you can share it with us at our discussion forums on social media. Go to http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com and look for the network that best fits your preferences. I wish you success on this task, especially since at this stage is where you will become a guide for our community. In the next step, we will start working on the specific contents and tactics for each step, which is adding value to your system. So at this point, work on the steps and change the order of them until they make good sense for you and your audience. May you succeed in life and with this new endeavor! 57
  • 64. Chapter 9: Step 5 – Create value for your system By now, you already have a purpose in life, and hopefully you already have numbers for it. You already know who to help to solve what! You have already quantified the impact that you would create in this world. You have developed a step-by-step system on how to guide people from their misery point to their success point. AWESOME! Now comes the time to fill in your framework or system with valuable information, your own knowledge and wisdom. My personal recommendations for this part is to take the time to work on each step thoroughly, perhaps 1 step per week, as though there was nothing more important to do. What you include in each step, will be the elements that bring alive your framework. I have developed a set of questions that could help you as a guide to work on your own content. What kind of information should you include? With each step, you have to be very clear of the WHY. Tell them why this step is a MUST do? What does your audience need to understand about it? Who has succeeded with this step? As Russell Brunson used to say: we relate to the 3 “S” strategy: Star (character or real person), Story (their problem) and Solution( how they came out of their misery). This could be 58
  • 65. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com in the form of a story, fable or testimonial. Who has failed at doing this step and why did they fail? This is the part of the “Do’s and Don’ts” What are the common myths or misconceptions about this step? At this stage you will overcome a lot of objections that your audience has because of their current way of living and the way others behave in their group of significant others and friends. Amongst the most common objections you will find that people don’t understand what you have for them; they feel they don’t want it; they don’t believe in you; they don’t believe they can do it; they feel they can’t afford it; they feel like they don’t need it now. These are all the objections you will have to overcome with your communication strategy. Where can they find more information about it, like third party statistics confirming what you say? How can they start and take action? What would be some small actions they can take right away? Why should they take action now and not later? How can they evaluate and measure progress? How can they relate to like-minded people in order to persevere and hold each other accountable for taking action, even if they are baby steps? How can they register and celebrate milestones? How much will it cost them to not take action? What are the most frequently asked questions someone in the problem you are trying to solve might have? What are the “should ask questions” you would offer in each step? WOW! It’s a lot of questions for just one step. Go to http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com and login on the FREE 59
  • 66. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP. Then go to STEP 5 and download this questionnaire. Then print it for each step that you have and start working on it. Since you are going to be thinking a lot, I suggest you use a voice recorder or a camera so that you record your sessions. Especially since your mind will go faster than you can type or hand write. See the recommended resources for this type of process on that same webpage. Russell Brunson recommends to even host a small seminar with your steps, since you already know all the information and to record it. Then you could convert the videos to a DVD set, extract the audios and have an MP3 with your seminar, and finally send the video to an assistant who could transcribe what you said and convert it into a book. Great strategy to make the process easier. So, whatever way you decide to go, start documenting the information of your step-by-step framework today. This is one of the hardest parts, since procrastination will be around the corner every single day. Make a commitment to complete this process either in a 1 retreat mode (taking a few days off to fully concentrate on this) or take it 1 step at a time (filling in 1 step per day or per week). Since I am truly committed to helping you make it happen, I invite you to join our program, where you will get help and accountability from a mastermind group. Together, we will help you assign a deadline for each step to be complete. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but we will help you move forward so that you can launch your program and make it grow as you go along. If you feel overwhelmed, remember all the people that are waiting for you to be clear and complete with this, including your family. Remember, this is what you were born to do! So, let’s get started. In the next step we will cover the different ways and vehicles in which you can convert your framework and valuable content. This will include lectures, speaking engagements, videos, webinars, ebooks, articles in dedicated publications, radio programs and so on. 60

  • 68. Chapter 10: Step 6 – Package your system Hey! The fun part begins! Congratulations! You are almost ready to launch your program to help people change their lives. You will learn how to package and price your program or system. Before we go into the packaging, it’s to consider is to have a value proposition of at least a 20:1 ratio. This means that for every dollar your customers spend on your program, they will receive 20 times in value. Value does not mean things like books or DVDs or even hours spent at a seminar, but real value for your audience. For example, if you develop a program to teach people on how to start a business that will bring them $100,000 dollars in profits, then your program could be valued in $5,000 dollars. In this example, value has no relation to how many books or hours they spent at the training program, but the results that the program can bring into their lives. Price is what the customer pays. Value is what the customer gets. Make sure you think on this and review what you outlined in the previous steps of this system so that you focus on the value and transformation you are providing for your audience. This will be of great help when assigning a price to your different forms of packaging your system. The first step to start packaging your system is to determine the different marketing vehicles that could transport your information adapted to the learning style and preference of your audience: • Written: you can create sets of books, workbooks, guides, ebooks, magazines, newsletters. 62
  • 69. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com • Audio: you can transform your information into podcasts, teleconferences, mp3s. • Video: you can offer live or on demand videos and webinars. • In person: workshops, lectures, seminars. You will see specific tools to transform your expertise and system into all of these media formats in the webpage http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com (login on the FREE LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP and then go to TOOLS). It’s very important to not feel overwhelmed on how you will produce all of these media. There are a lot of tasks that you will be able to outsource at a very affordable price from experts from all over the world. Just to give you an example, if you want to record a presentation but you don’t have the time, tools or willingness, you can go to www.fiverr.com and get it done for $5 US. So don’t feel overwhelmed! You can get a list of outsourcing portals like Fiverr at: http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com (login on the FREE LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP and then go to OUTSOURCING). Those experts will be able to help you with logo design, video recording, social media, advertising design, online marketing, copywriting and plenty of more marketing tasks. Let’s continue learning about the different tools and packaging strategies. Once you have decided the vehicles and formats in which you will convey your information, we have to decide which packaging strategy to use: • Written: you can create a magazine site that brings in recurring income. The magazine could be printed, online or even mobile. You can package your information in a set of 7 booklets. Or you can create a limited time training programs. • Homestudy systems: you can package a set of 7 CDs, MP3s or 7 DVDs including books and workbooks. • Online: you can create a membership site that includes and automates 63
  • 70. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com the delivery of 1 lesson per week or per month to your customers. This can include your ebooks, podcasts, videos, webinars, guides, and so on. • You can create a seminar or coaching program that you would teach live in 7 weeks through teleconferences or webinars or even in person. You could record those teleconferences and webinars and then offer ondemand access to them. So, which packaging strategy will you prefer? If you don’t want to take a blind shot at this, I recommend you start a benchmarking process to test what your audience is already consuming. For this exercise, I encourage you to list the top 10 authors and programs related to your field. Go to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, magazine stands and search engines like google. See what vehicles are being offered: videos, podcasts, pdfs, guides, ebooks, books, webinars, teleconferences, lectures, and so on. Learn from their price points and packaging. Learn from their fulfillment strategy: are they using a fulfillment house or are they doing everything themselves? How long does it take for them to fulfill their product or service? Go and download the comparison chart from http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com, login on the FREE LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP., then go to STEP 6 and start working on it. Once you determine which packaging strategy to use, schedule your calendar to get the material done either by doing it yourself or by hiring someone to do it. If you feel that you need assistance, join our program or mastermind group. Please share your progress or questions with us on the social network of your preferences available at: http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com May you persevere and succeed with this step! 64
  • 71. Chapter 11: Step 7 – Developing your marketing strategy This step covers all the marketing elements, steps and strategies to make your program work. Let’s first begin with the 7 stages of the customer lifecycle, so that when we plan the marketing campaign, we know what tools and tactics to use at each stage. There is no one single strategy that fits every audience and the problems to be solved. However, we will cover 3 different strategies that you will be able to model and adapt for your project. If at any point you need assistance, do not hesitate to contact us. In order to succeed, you will need to do a lot of testing and measuring of your message (wording) and media at each stage. This will help you improve your conversion rates from one stage to the other with time. Stage 1 is what we know as publicity, advertising or traffic. Stage 2 is what we know as “Capturing names” from your traffic stage. Stage 3 is what we know as “Nurturing leads” Stage 4 is what we know as “Converting leads into customers” Stage 5 is what we know as “Fulfillment” Stage 6 is what we know as “Recurring sales” Stage 7 is what we know as “Getting referrals” Go to http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com, login on the FREE LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP and then go to CUSTOMER LIFE CYCLE to see how the whole 7 stage cycle looks like. On that graphic, you will be able to see the conversion rates from each stage to the next. When you run your first campaign, it will be important to measure your results against this conversion rates and from there on, you will be competing against your own results. If you follow the sequencing of 65
  • 72. Author: www.XavierHurtado.com that life cycle, it will show you what tools you can use at each stage. Now let’s move into the campaigns. As Seth Godin suggests in several of his publications, we are in a “permission marketing” era. That means that we need to attract potential clients and engage them with our message and media with valuable content. Then, we need to ask them for permission to send them frequent information that will nurture them and guide them into taking the next step, which is calling you or taking your program. Then, after they take your program, the goal is to convert them into evangelists of your program, and that’s how they help you start the cycle again. It sounds very simple. However, the nurturing stage or follow up is what kills most businesses, because they don’t do it with the right message and media and with the right timing. If you want to learn more about the 7 stages of the customer attraction and retention cycle, as well as what marketing tools to use at each stage, go to the CUSTOMER LIFE CYCLE on the FREE LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP. Now let’s see how that works in 3 different campaign models. Go to http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com, login on the FREE LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP, then go to CAMPAIGNS and check the 3 campaign models shown there. As you will be able to see, each campaign touches different types of learning style of the audiences. Now that you have seen the 7 stages of the customer life cycle, tools to use at each stage and 3 campaign models, we are going to start working on your own promotional strategy. Here are some key questions that will help you determine some of the tools and reach: 66
  • 73. www.LifePurposeandWealth.com What countries will you plan to reach? In what timeframe? What languages do they speak? About your specific audience: where and how do they congregate? Go to http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com, login on the FREE LIFE PURPOSE AND WEALTH BOOTCAMP and then go to STEP 7 and download the template to plan your own campaign. Print it and start working on it. Remember that you can always go back to CUSTOMER LIFE CYCLE and check all the marketing tools outlined there that will help you attract, nurture and convert clients. Should you have any questions on how to use any of these tools, you can reach out to our discussion groups on social networks available at http://www.LifePurposeAndWealth.com Additionally, you are encouraged you join our mastermind group where you will get guidance and accountability help to push your project forward. May you succeed on your marketing plan, and may it help you change lives while you make a living and grow wealth with it. 67
