  • Reflexive verbs “REFLECT” the action on the speaker.A verb is reflexive when thesubject and the object are the same.I wash myself. subject: I verb: wash object: myself
  • When a verb is reflexive, the infinitive ends in "se."lavar to wash (non-reflexive)lavarse to wash oneself (reflexive)acostar to put to bed (non-reflexive)acostarse to go to bed (reflexive)peinar to comb (non-reflexive)peinarse to comb oneself (reflexive)
  • Conjugarlavarse: to wash oneselfyo me lavo I wash (myself)tú te lavas you wash (yourself)ella se lava she washes (herself) we wash (ourselves)nosotros nos lavamosvosotros os laváisyou all wash (yourselves)ellos se lavan they wash (themselves)
  • maquillarse: to make oneself up yo me maquillo tú te maquillas ella se maquilla nosotros nos maquillamos vosotros os maquilláis ellas se maquillanEllas se maquillan en el espejo.
  • bañarse: to take a bath Ella se baña con agua caliente.
  • despertarse: to wake up (e:ie) *This is also a stem changing verb yo me despierto tú te despiertas ella se despierta nosotros nos despertamos vosotros os despertáis ellos se despiertanI wake up, you wake up, he/she/it wakes up etc... Carlos se despierta a las seis y media.
