Nils Plato - Factory Expert Panel vs. Industrial Hygienist Measurement Based Exposure Assessment of Past Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica Dust in a Swedish Porcelain Plant
This presentation will be available to view as a discussion poster at the 7th International Conference on the Science of Exposure Assessment - X2012.
It will be presented on 04 July 2012 from 09.30 – 11.45 am followed by a chaired discussion of all posters in this session on Chemicals in the Workplace.

Nils Plato - Factory Expert Panel vs. Industrial Hygienist Measurement Based Exposure Assessment of Past Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica Dust in a Swedish Porcelain Plant
1. Factory expert panel vs. industrial hygienist measurement based
exposure assessment of past exposure to respirable crystalline
silica dust in a Swedish porcelain plant
Nils Plato
Associate professor
Institute of Environmental Medicine
Karolinska Institutet
Stockholm, Sweden
3. Methods
Expert panel: (assessment in 1998)
Semi-quantativ assessment of 140 job-titles 1971-1995 within a porcelain plant in low,
median and high (fractions of OEL) regarding respirable crystalline silica dust (RCS)
Industrial hygienists: (assessment in 2011)
Classification/assessment of the same job-titles during 1971-1995 based at 463 full-shift
personal measurements within the plant performed during 1971-1995 regarding RCS. The
data were transfered into three categories, low, median and higt to be compared to the
experts classification
Analysis for PA, RP, RC and RV
