  • Jason Kintzler will be joining us later today. He is the owner and founder of PitchEngine. I will cover Twitter & Facebook for small business.
  • For our purposes today, I want to focus on strategies for small businesses using Twitter. To find out how to set up an account and the very basics of tweeting search using keywords “Twitter tutorials.”
  • You never know where opportunities lay: A friend of mine who owns a quilt shop, uses several social media venues: a blog, twitter, facebook and maybe other sites too. Lesley follows the Today Show on Twitter, she responded to a tweet asking for small businesses to respond on health care during these economic times. She was one of six small businesses chosen. She received 5 minutes of fame during national television via Skype.
  • The most common desktop apps used.
  • Example of the new look for Twitter and types of tweets: Morning Glory Coffee, WY business, has a nice variety of tweets.
  • Example of Tweetdeck. Can add columns, move columns, search easily, etc. Hover over picture/icon to retweet, DM, mention, and other actions.
  • Example of Hootsuite. Can add more social media sites to tabs, etc. Easy to use and manage. Free for a 30 day free trial and then choose a fee level to suit your needs.
  • How many tweets is too many? Everyone will have an answer on this one. I do about 3-5 a day. I once heard a speaker say people who do 20 or more tweets are crazy! Plus you can loose followers easily doing this. Experiment, see what tweets your followers retweet, which ones they reply to, etc.
  • The slide explains most of the concerns.
  • There are many apps to choose from.
  • To find more followers, click on one of your followers and then click who they are following, then you can easily go down the list and check “follow.”
  • Here is an example of someone following Montana Business.
  • Just to name a very few in a variety of areas.
  • Our Facebook Page. We have been showcasing the ornaments on our FB page and loaded all ornament pics in our photo album “An Entrepreneurial Christmas Story.”
  • If you have a Facebook account and or a page, find your picture in our photo album and make a comment, tell us more about your business and share with your friends on your personal account or on your page. With the narratives we have received with your ornament, we will be sharing your story through PitchEngine!
  • Easiest way to log into your page or pages is through your Account tab. Find you page(s) by clicking on Manage Pages.
  • You can easily add or remove admins here, on the right.
  • You can view your daily statistics through Insights. Click “See All” to view how many people are active versus total likes, demographics, interactions, etc. Statistics are visible to admins only. Can view daily, weekly, monthly
