  2. 2. 3 mothers <ul><li>This morning, we’ll be exploring 3 mothers found in the first two books of the Bible: Genesis and Exodus. </li></ul><ul><li>These examples of motherhood can be viewed as a lens towards today’s reality, and can even be examples of both what to do and what not to do. </li></ul><ul><li>This lesson is not exclusive to women. The morals/values of the lesson can be applicable to men. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Eve <ul><li>The first mother. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Genesis 4: 1-2 </li></ul></ul><ul><li>People can be real quick to blame her for what happened in the garden. </li></ul><ul><li>BUT, let’s explore some possible, unspoken areas of her life. </li></ul>

Eve <ul><li>Eve didn’t have “girls night out” as a support group or to go to for advice. </li></ul><ul><li>In fact, she didn’t even have a mother to go to for advice and to hear some past experiences that may have been helpful towards her decision making. </li></ul><ul><li>There were no other mothers around when her kids were sick, or constantly crying. She had to figure things out on her own. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Eve <ul><li>Her son, Cain, killed her other son, Abel. (the first homicide) </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Genesis 4:8 </li></ul></ul><ul><li>She was the first mother to bury her son. </li></ul><ul><li>She then gave birth to Seth. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Genesis 4:25 </li></ul></ul>
  6. 6. Eve <ul><li>At times it can be lonely, especially when you feel that you need some help the most, but God is merciful and is with you. </li></ul>

Sarah <ul><li>Married to Abraham. </li></ul><ul><li>God made a covenant with Abram. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Genesis 15 </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Sarah took matters into her own hands. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Genesis 16: 1-2 </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Abraham laughed at God. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Genesis 17: 15-19 </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Sarah started laughing too! </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Genesis 18: 10-12 </li></ul></ul>
