    • Government owned company
    • Largely self financing
    • Must have "improved efficiency and effectiveness in management of operations"
    • e.g.
      • Ordnance Survey
      • Met Office
      • Hydrographic Office
      • Land Registry
      • Companies House
      • DVLA
      • VOSA
  • 3. Why are they relevant?
    • Recommendation 9.
      • By Budget 2008, government should commission and publish an independent review of the costs and benefits of the current trading fund charging model for the re-use of public sector information, including the role of the five largest trading funds, the balance of direct versus downstream economic revenue, and the impact on the quality of public sector information.
  • 4. So what are we doing?
    • Shareholder Executive and Treasury launched that review on 25 June
    • Terms of Reference
      • To include a review of information held
      • Whether the current arrangements are a barrier to growth and innovation
    • Taskforce working with them to review the business models
