  2. 2. Smash <ul><li>Smash is a versatile passing concept. Can be a 2 or 3 receiver concept. </li></ul><ul><li>We will use mostly against Cover 2 & Cover 3 </li></ul><ul><li>Basic concept is to create a dilemma for the flat defender, the cornerback in Cover 2, the linebacker in Cover 3. </li></ul><ul><li>We will make the flat defender wrong no matter what he chooses to defend. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Smash <ul><li>#1 Rec. - A 3-5 yard hitch. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Can be adjusted for man coverage or different zone coverages. Will be game planned. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>#2 Rec. - A 10-15 yard corner or flag route. </li></ul><ul><li>#3 Rec. - A Go route down the playside hash. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>A post route to attack over rotating zones will be game planned or adjusted to in-game. </li></ul></ul>
  4. 4. Smash <ul><li>QB Reads: </li></ul><ul><li>2 Rec. Concept </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Look to high low the flat defender. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Hitch, Corner, Checkdown </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Corner, Hitch, Checkdown will be game planned. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>3 Rec. Concept </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Hitch, Corner, Go/Post, Checkdown. </li></ul></ul>

  6. 6. Smash C If the corner jumps the hitch route, the corner route will be open behind him.
  7. 7. Smash C If the corner bails to play the corner route, hit the hitch in front of him
  8. 8. Smash C SS FS If teams begin rotating safeties over the top to stop the smash concept, a go down the hash will be open. The QB read remains the same, the go will be the third read.
