    • Public schools: 57 000
    • Private schools: 9 000
    • Obligatory education age: 6-16

    • 64% of a generation graduate a baccalaureat
    • Education law targeted 80% in 1989
    • 50% of a generation reach higher education
    • BUT…

    • 20% are unemployed

      • Lack of interest in school activities
      • Failure at carreer’s guidance
      • Low level of skills and abilities
      • Slow learning, slow reading and writing
      • Social problems with low socio-economic level of families
      • Conflicts with families or school teachers

    • How to prevent early school drop-outs in France?
      • Individual approach with special teachers during a few hours a week (RASED)
      • Individual approach with teachers in the classroom
      • Informal education: lessons help after school time, during holidays….

      • Collaboration between families, school teams and carrer’s adviser

      • Childrens’selection: motivation; they are paid during their professional training period
