    • 14. Looking through Headlines Sorted by Relevancy Change sorting to by Relevance 202 hits Glancing at headlines gives you ideas for narrower topics, e.g. business continuity plans, Sars
    • 15. Using the Discovery Pane You will see possible keywords, e.g. pandemic. You can broaden your search by including the term Scroll down Discovery Pane until you see the Keywords and Subjects sections

    • 21. Narrowing First Search by Searching a Specific Field 4) Click Run Search 3) Change from default of Full Article to Headline and Lead Paragraph
    • 22. Results from Searching Headline and Lead Paragraph only rather than Full Article No. of hits drops from 202 to 32 , but these 32 are more relevant Very good article missed out in first search because of year limit
    • 23. Getting Full Text of an Article from a Modified Search 1) The default format Full Article/Report plus Indexing re-appears. Remember to change to Full Article again 2) Click to obtain full text
    • 24. Full Text of Good Article We now know public hospitals and polyclinics will treat flu cases only… We also know more about the Pandemic Preparedness Plan and various alert codes
    • 25. How to Improve Relevancy
      • Use the following search commands in your search statement:
        • atleast10 sars
          • The word ‘sars’ will appear at least ten times in all articles retrieved. You can use numbers 1-50.
        • public near5 educat*
          • The word ‘public’ is 0 to 5 words apart from the word starting with “educat”. You can use numbers 1-500 .
          • In this way, you retrieve articles with text ‘ educate the public ’ or ‘ public education ’ or ‘ public is educated ’
    • 26. Logging Out Remember to click Logout when you have finished
