In 2007, the Tiffany Circle Society of Women Leaders was created to create a society dedicated to the women who give their time, talent and treasure to the American Red Cross.

By annually investing $10,000 in their local American Red Cross chapters, these women follow in the footsteps of a long line of women leaders who have helped the Red Cross serve the American public in times of war and peace through disaster response, blood collection, safety training and countless other community services.

This presentation was given by Wendy Harman of the American Red Cross at the 2011 Blackbaud Conference.

  • Women-centric organization, so wanted to embrace and make feel special the many high level women donors we have: In 2007, the Tiffany Circle Society of Women Leaders was created to create a society dedicated to the women who give their time, talent and treasure to the American Red Cross. By annually investing $10,000 in their local American Red Cross chapters, these women follow in the footsteps of a long line of women leaders who have helped the Red Cross serve the American public in times of war and peace through disaster response, blood collection, safety training and countless other community services.
  • The name Tiffany and the $10,000 contribution have historical precedent. Named for the beautiful Tiffany windows in the Board of Governors Hall at Red Cross national headquarters in Washington, D.C., these windows were commissioned by Red Cross President Mabel Boardman in 1917. As an act of reconciliation and hope, they were paid for with a $5,000 gift from the Women's Relief Corps of the North and $5,000 from the United Daughters of the Confederacy of the South.
  • making it the most successful major gift initiative in the organization’s history. The society has grown to 63 chapters with more than 650 members. 53% Age 55 or under • 54% Masters Degree, PhD or J.D • 49% Personal income of $200K+ • 44% $1-million + Primary Residence • 66% of our members have 2-3 vehicles in their household • 68% no children living at home • 96% of members indicated that they would purchase goods or services from a sponsor • 98% indicated that they would consider increasing their spending if they already had a relationship with a sponsor
  • Each year, members are invited to attend the National Summit of Women Leaders in Washington, D.C. This national event gives the women a chance to meet their peers, share Red Cross experiences and stories, and learn best practices. The exclusive event gives members an inside view of the American Red Cross National Headquarters and Washington, D.C. with private invitations to some of the most illustrious locations in the United States.
