    3. More than 6.5 billion people populate planet earth And 6 1 % of them live in ASIA
    4. The population of ASIA is now over 4 billion people And more than half of them are under 25 years of age.

    6. In CHINA there are 3 provinces that have about as many people as the U.S. Sichuan: 92,672,000 Shandong: 94,928,000 Henan: 99,400,000 Total: 287,000,000 U.S. Population: 300,892,000
      • If you stand in the subway station in one of the major Asian cities, like Shanghai, Tokyo, New Delhi, Taipei or Seoul
      • you can watch masses of people continuously pour down the wide stairs like a human Niagara Falls
      • and over half of these people have never heard the gospel or the name of Jesus once.
      • In INDIA many people think that Jesus is the name of a sewing machine company.
      • Asia is the least evangelized area in the world.
      • Asia has fewer missionaries per person than any other continent.
What do you think about that? What are we doing about this? What will you do?
    7. 6 of the 1 0 most populated countries in the world are in Asia: 1 . China 6. Pakistan 2. India 7. Bangladesh 3. USA 8. Russia 4. Indonesia 9. Nigeria 5. Brazil 1 0. Japan
      • When I first heard this, I began to
      • wonder and
      • pray, ‘ God,
      • in my lifetime
      • how can I help
      • reach Asia
      • with the
      • Gospel? ’ ”
      • A missionary in the
      • Philippines told me,
      • “ ‘ Steve, you CAN ’ T go to
      • all the Asian countries
        • learn all the languages
        • cross all the cultural barriers, but . . .
      • “… you CAN …
        • go to one country
        • set up a beachhead
        • train 25 young men and
        • one by one send them into the 25 Asian countries.”
      • then later when
      • you look back on
      • your life
      • you will see
      • that you helped
      • reach Asia
      • with the
      • gospel.”
      • From that time on I began to look for which Asian country has the greatest potential
      • to train and
      • send out
      • missionaries.”
      • After much research I realized that it would be very strategic to send missionaries from leading Asian countries like Japan, China and Korea.”
      • In Korea more than 25% profess to be Christian.
      • young people want to
      • go as missionaries.
      • now more than 17 ,000 Korean missionaries serve around the world, more per person than any other country, including the United States.
      • “ And God used this strategy and vision to lead my family and me to serve with Word of Life in South Korea since 1 988.”
      • At first we went to language school and learned Korean. And for the first 7 years we did everything in Korean.
      • Almost every day someone would ask me to teach them English but I always politely refused. I had no interest in teaching English.
      • Then one day a Korean pastor came to me and said, ‘ You have a tool box with hand tools and a power tool. Why do you refuse to use the power tool? ’ He was talking about using English.
      • He said, ‘ If you will use English the right way, you can have a very effective ministry of evangelism and discipleship among the young people in my country. ‘
      • To make a long story short in January of 2000 with 9 students we opened up an English discipleship train-ing center just south of Seoul.
      • It is called
      • (The School of Youth Ministries in English). It ’ s an 8-month full-time resident program. Classes run from Tuesday-Friday.
      • The average age of the students is 2 1 . Over 30% of the students are pastor ’ s sons and daughters.
      • Our school has 3 purposes.
      • 1 . To disciple every student to have a passion for God and God ’ s word.
      • 2. To teach him to speak English well.
      • 3. To give him a taste of youth ministry and a vision for missions.
      • Now each year
      • 80 students
      are attending SYME.
      • Over 30 of past SYME students now attend WOL Bible Institute in the United States or Canada this year (2007). Another 30 are planning to attend next year.
      • Let me show you a typical day at …

    21. 5:50pm: Richard Hoi-Sun Kim takes his turn washing dishes after dinner.
    22. 7:50pm: Danny Kwan-Kyu Lee performs a drama at Word of Life Club.
      • One of the greatest things about our school is the students. They are so hungry to learn. That makes it such a joy to teach.
      • We are now
      • preparing to
      • open 1 0 SYME
      • schools
      • in 1 0 Asian
      • countries by
      • the year 2020.
      Target Asia
    23. Target Asia: 2020 Vision
      • Each school would have about 1 00 students with half (50) of the students going on to Bible school, after one year.
Malaysia Indonesia India China Taiwan Myanmar Thailand Cambodia Japan Vietnam
      • What better way to help reach Asia for Christ than to disciple 1 000 young Asian adults every year with 500 of them going on to Bible school to prepare for future ministry?
Target Asia: 2020 Vision Malaysia Indonesia India China Taiwan Myanmar Thailand Cambodia Japan Vietnam
      • In April of this year (2007) my family and I will be moving to Japan for one year to help open SYME there.
      • God has miraculously provided a $ 5,000,000 mini-hotel property just two hours NW of Tokyo for only $ 200,000.
      • We also have a team in Taiwan preparing to open WOL SYME there in August of 2008.
      • Also in August of 2008 we are opening a teaching site for a one-year English-speaking WOL Bible Institute in Korea.
Schroon Lake, NY, Owen Sound, Canada, Hudson, FL, Pyongtaek, KOREA
      • By 20 1 0 we hope and plan to begin open ing SYME schools in China.
    24. Japan Taiwan Korea
      • “ ” Pray you the Lord of the harvest that He would send forth laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:38
To open 3 schools in the next 1 8 months we need your prayers.
    25. Japan Taiwan Korea monthly finances To open 3 schools in the next 1 8 months we need your support
      • One of our greatest needs is for volunteers to come and help us teach. Every year 40 volunteers come for at least 2 months to help us.
    26. Can you see yourself in this picture? God is doing great things here. We invite you to join us.
