Project Description &
Rationale / Objectives
Despite being the fastest growing sector, tourism, hospitality and
recreation industry lacks adequate and well trained manpower to run it.
Only one institute offers IATA. This therefore calls for investment in quality
tourism and hospitality institute. Uganda climate is moderate with cool
temperatures and rainfall throughout the year. The country has rich and
green vegetation with tropical rain forests and water bodies covering most
parts of the country. This kind of climate has made it possible for the
increasing number of visitors to Uganda and therefore a trained force is
necessary to handle this sector. Tereza Mbire School of Tourism and
Hospitality Management wishes to address the above problem. The
School will be one of those institutions providing high end hospitality and
Tourism education in Uganda ranging from specialized Certificates and
Diplomas to Degree programs later, offered both full time and part time to
short in house courses on demand from private sector forms and public
sector ministries and Agencies. The objectives of the proposed school will
be to:
address the increasing numbers of school drop outs, and those
who are already in service.
promote a culture of customer care.
develop a mass of people who are able to fit into the market or
create their own enterprises.
enhance regional leadership platform and opportunities to share
expertise knowledge and best practices for linkages in the tourism
and hospitality sector.
spearhead a system of producing well groomed service providers
2. in the tourism industry.
The impact of establishment of Tereza Mbire School of Tourism
