  • 5. Adeline is very protective. In chapter 11, when she gets PLT, a baby chick, she protects and cares for PLT as if PLT was her baby sister. She talks to it lovingly and motherly. On page 74, it says, “Aunt Baba says, ‘I just heard you speaking to PLT as if she were your baby sister, in a tone both proud and loving’.” Adeline loved PLT very much when it was alive and mourned for it a lot when it died.

  • 6. Adeline is very intelligent. In kindergarten, she gets to wear a medal every week, and at the end of kindergarten she got a special award for having the most medals worn. She has perfect report card grades as well. She won a competition when she was 14, writing a play. Even though she was a girl, she got to go to a college in England, where she went to medical school and specialized in obstetrics. She skipped two grades too, proving how intelligent and smart she is.

  • 7. Adeline is very hopeful. Ever since she was born, she was mistreated by her family, and considered as bad luck because her mother died giving birth to her. But she has never lost hope that one day her siblings and father will love her and accept her as their equal. In the book, she always writes about hoping that one day she will find love from her family.

  • 8. Adeline’s Dream Room consists of hundreds and thousands of books. A beautiful room with endless shelves filled with books, and a large table stacked with paper and ink, ready for writing stories. I picked this room because Adeline loves books, and reading, and writing. She also loves writing her own stories and plays and poetry and all else related. I think this would be the perfect room for her.

  • 9. I picked this award because Adeline is a great writer and really deserves this award. She has been an excellent writer ever since she was small, and is still. She also loves books. This award is the award that is given when a book is very well-liked among readers. I think Adeline’s book “Chinese Cinderella” deserves this award as well.
