Form and Function We use the Simple present tense when talking about habits or regular events. The Simple present tense uses the infinitive or base form of the verb; or singular form of the verb for third person singular subjects*. I eat breakfast at 7am everyday. I shower every morning before going to work. My brother* sleeps in the couch when the guest room is full. The car* needs an oil change every two months.
