    • HIGHLIGHTS Rethinking ERP for a More Agile World In a world where agility is essential, IT must respond quickly to business needs — rather than being constrained by a single application suite from a single vendor, even if that means sourcing ERP from multiple cloud and on-premises vendors In a world of growing uncertainty and short-lived opportunities, a highly adaptive, multisourced ERP environment will provide companies with substantial competitive advantages 2 © 2013 WIPRO LTD | WWW.WIPRO.COM
    • Rethinking ERP Three key trends are particularly relevant now MARKET REACH  Companies are now delivering their products and services globally- meaning different customer expectations, demographics and even sometimes different verticals CONNECTED PEOPLE, CONNECTED THINGS  People are ‘always-on’, connected, social & location aware.  All kinds of objects are also on a networkthis ubiquitous connectivity is enabling companies to automate and extend new processess ACCELERATING BUSINESS CYCLES  To excel in the digital economy, companies must be able to introduce new products and services- including all the support services in just months Companies must be able to freely and aggressively acquire innovative IT capabilities as soon as the business demands it. Those that can’t will always lag behind the companies that can 3 © 2013 WIPRO LTD | WWW.WIPRO.COM
    • How should companies respond? In a world of growing uncertainty and short-lived opportunities, a highly adaptive, multisourced ERP environment will create substantial competitive advantages • • Create a sourcing ‘heat map’ for the IT capabilities associated with those business processes • Initiate corresponding changes in sourcing and integration • 4 Accurately inventory current and proposed business processes Include both current processes and those that may be necessary to improve KPIs, such as customer retention, customer acquisition and regulatory risk • Look at which capabilities can be sourced from the cloud, sourced as packaged onpremises applications, legacy ERP environment, and which may require customer development • Initiate the conversion process by tearing targeted processes away from their ERP environments on an incremental, prioritized basis © 2013 WIPRO LTD | WWW.WIPRO.COM
    • Challenges Assembling “tribal knowledge” about business processes It take a lot of perseverance and high level championing to get everyone in the company to review comprehensively the existing and proposed business processes Dealing with existing contractual commitments Companies often have long-term ERP licensing and maintenance-- it may make sense to run incumbent ERP and alternatively sourced systems in parallel during a period of transition. Rationalizing data management and integration As companies diversify their IT sourcing, they have to ensure that they can still maintain a “single version of the truth” across their new, more agile IT environments 5 © 2013 WIPRO LTD | WWW.WIPRO.COM
    • Is it worth it? The Advantages: “The future belongs to companies that put the business back in control.” DIFFERENTI-ATED BUSINESS AGILITY GREATER INNOVATION REDUCED BUSINESS RISK REDUCED TECHNOLOGY OWNERSHIP COSTS MORE DYNAMIC PARTNERING Companies that successfully make the move from ERP driven IT to opportunity driven business enablement will gain multiple significant advantages over the coming years 6 © 2013 WIPRO LTD | WWW.WIPRO.COM
    • Conclusion The future belongs to companies that put the business back in control — so it can act more quickly and more intelligently when new market imperatives arise. That’s why every company should strongly consider rethinking ERP today 7 © 2013 WIPRO LTD | WWW.WIPRO.COM
