  • 4. Water is critical for all living things.
  • 5. Without water, there can be no life.
  • 6. Water provides some good clean fun, too
  • 7. Earth is called the “water planet”... 80% of it is covered with water or ice but less than 2% of Earth’s water is drinkable..
  • 8. One part oxygen plus Two parts Hydrogen = WATER
  • 9. The WATER CYCLE is controlled by the sun.
  • 10. Water never stops moving...
  • 11. Heat from the sun evaporates the earth’s oceans, lakes, rivers and ponds.
  • 12. Water vapor rises and forms clouds.
  • 13. Vapor cools in the clouds and forms droplets that fall back to earth as rain, sleet or snow.
  • 14. The water runs off into lakes, rivers, and streams and back to the sea to be heated again...and the cycle starts over.
  • 15. Amazing facts about WATER • Water is the most common substance found on earth. • The human body is about 75% water. • The average person uses about 175 gallons of water a day!

  • 17. We drink only A TINY AMOUNT of the water that is treated for our use. Here’s how we use it at home:
  • 18. Did you know…? • Water is the only substance on earth that naturally exists in all 3 forms – solid (ice), liquid (water) and gas (steam).
  • 19. Some more amazing facts about WATER • It takes 2-7 gallons to flush the toilet. • A leaky faucet can waste up to 100 gallons a day! That could add up to 36,500 gallons a year!
  • 20. More amazing facts about WATER • A 5-minute shower uses 25-50 gallons! • A dishwasher takes 9-12 gallons for each load.
  • 21. A dairy cow needs 36 gallons of water to produce 12 gallons of milk!
  • 22. Some more amazing facts about WATER • An elephant is 70% water! • A person can live about a month without food, but only about a week without water.
  • 23. WATER is a valuable natural resource! We can’t afford to waste it! What can we do to...
  • 24. YES! KIDS CAN CONSERVE!
  • 25. HERE ARE 6 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP SAVE WATER!
  • 26. #1 Take shorter showers… Shorten a 10 minute shower to 5 minutes and save at least 25 gallons of water!
  • 27. #2 Fill it up! Fill up the dishwasher… running it only half full wastes water.
  • 28. #3 Just to rinse! Don’t run the water while you brush your teeth... just to rinse the brush and clean the sink!
  • 29. #4 Fill it up - again! Use the correct settings on the washing machine… partial loads waste water, energy and money!
  • 30. #5 Stop the DROP! Find a leaky faucet around the house? Tell a parent so it can get fixed! Leaks waste water.
  • 31. #6 Learn to share… Have fun in the sprinkler if it is on for watering the lawn. Water “toys” can waste up to 200 gallons each half hour!
