  • Crazy politics in Portland!

    Agents are leaving to work for other carriers, and to avoid the ' ever changing rules ' that are designed to control and punish you.

    Somewhere along the way upper management forgot the basics: you're main job is to promote the sale of Colonial products through agents and brokers.

    You're job is NOT to chase away agents and brokers, and consume your time trying to punish agents who you don't like this week, or cancel broker contracts if you don't like the owner (yes, the broker community has heard about what you're doing).

    This is why other carriers will succeed greatly in Oregon. And the VP in that area is too afraid of the state manager to do anything.

  • As a broker, not very pleased with Colonial. Way too many politics in Oregon. Poor upper management, extremely high turnover of agents, agents in Portland seem unhappy with the Oregon Manager and the constant changing of 'rules and more rules' to punish them.

    We now hear that the Oregon Manager is cancelling broker agency contracts to suit their personal agenda, and punish any agency who doesn't do what they demand.

    As an agency you cannot work with whom you want, this Oregon Manager dictates who we can work with. This makes for a very bad relationship amongst the broker community, yet another reason why we don't work with Colonial agents.

    Avoid the craziness, and the politics, choose a better carrier. Or get some real leadership on the West Coast.
