  • 2. Welcome to DVMS!
    • Reminders!
    • School Hours: 8:20am – 4:00pm
    • Message Board – Front Office
    • Eat Breakfast! It's free!
  • 3. General Rules
    • Dress Code
      • Shirts tucked in
      • No flip-flops
      • No solid blue or red shirts
      • No bandanas or gang related items
      • Hoodies only worn unzipped and without the hood on
      • Pants worn at the natural waist
      • Skirts and shirts should not be too revealing
      • Refer to Student Handbook online for more specifics.
  • 4. General Rules, Cont'd Lockers No lockers! Carry your stuff! Don't bring anything you wouldn't want to risk disappearing. Backpacks Rule Clear or mesh only!

    • Cell Phone Rule
    • Leave it at home. But if you must, keep it OFF and in your backpack or pocket. If I see or hear it, I WILL TAKE IT UP!
    • If your phone is taken up, your parents must pay $15 to get it back.
    • See staff in the front office.

  • 7. STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
    • General Expectations – ‘We have PRIDE’
    • 1) Preparation

  • 8. Hallway Expectations
    • Students will:
    • Walk on the right side of the hallway
    • Speak softly and use appropriate language
    • Follow dress code
    • Enter classroom quietly and begin bell work immediately
  • 9. Tardies All teachers will close their doors as soon as the bell rings. Do not come in! You are now tardy! You will be taken to the AP's office and marked as tardy. Too many tardies will result in ISS, lunch detention, etc.
  • 10. Restroom Expectations If you use the restroom during class, you must have a pass and go directly to the assigned restroom and back to class. You may not leave the classroom during the first or last ten minutes of class. Take care of your business during the passing period!
  • 11. Cafeteria Expectations
    • Walk directly to the cafeteria with your teacher and get in line. Wait patiently.
    • Follow dress code with your ID badge on, ready to be scanned.
    • Keep cafeteria clean (all the time)
    • Be respectful to your friends and staff
    • Follow dismissal procedures
    • Return to class on time (4 th period)
  • 12. Arrival and Dismissal Students on arrival, go directly to the cafeteria and get in line for breakfast. At dismissal, go directly from class to the buses or walk/bike home. Those being picked up, exit at the back of the building.
  • 13. Student ID’s
    • Serve as:
    • Student identification
    • Lunch ticket
    • Grade level identification
    • Safety for all
    • These must be worn at all times
    • Lost ID’s – cost $5 / Lanyard - $2
    • You must wear the correct color lanyard for your grade level
  • 14. Lunch Detention
    • Arrive on time
    • Silent lunch
    • Students will have to write a 1 page reflection essay and/or apology letter
    • Students will dispose of all trash and will be released by their lunch monitor
  • 15. Fire Drill
    • Look at the Campus Map
    • Line up quickly and quietly
    • Stay together and follow your teacher to the designated spot
    • Remain quiet while your teacher takes roll and confirms all students are there
    • Last one out shuts off the lights and closes the door
    • If you are out of the classroom, proceed directly outside and meet up with the class
  • 16. Tornado Drill
    • Look at the campus map
    • Line up quickly and quietly at the door
    • Follow your teacher across the hall into Ms. Crisps' room
    • Sit away from the windows
    • Listen closely for directions

  • 18. Classroom Expectations
    • Arrive on time and begin warm-up immediately
    • Come prepared with materials and assignments
    • Be ready to learn
    • Respect each other's right to learn
    • Follow the dress code and student code of conduct at all times

Discipline Procedures 1 st Offense – Verbal Warning/Redirection 2 nd Offense – Name on the board / documentation of problem 3 rd Offense – Student/Teacher Conference 4 th Offense – Parent Contact 5 th Offense – Lunch Detention 6 th Offense - Referral NOTE: These procedures are for minor problems only. Extreme misbehavior will result in accelerated consequences and/or an immediate REFERRAL.
