  2. 2. REDHAT INSTALL TUTORIAL STEP BY STEPThe installation process is chosen here uses the method of CD-ROM as the master filestorage media installation. To be able to install Redhat 9 Linux operating system from CD-ROM, the first step taken is to set the BIOS to boot from the CD-ROM. Toperform BIOS settings press the [DELETE] on the first computer when booting so thatthe display appears as follows:Figure 1. Choose the boot sequence of the first computer from the CDROM as the image aboveand save the BIOS settings.After setting the BIOS insert CD # 1 Master Linux Redhat 9 and then restart thecomputer so the computer will boot from the CD-ROM. After the computer boot from theCD, it would appear the installation mode selection menu display as shown below:Figure 3. To perform a text-based installation process to select thesecond by writing the Linux text and press the button <ENTER>After selecting the second option is a text mode, it will be brought to the installationmenu Redhat 9 to check the master installation CD that will be used as a masterinstallation. To check the CD master can be selected menu OK. If Redhat 9installation CD Master in good condition can be selected SKIP.Figure 4. If the hard drive is used to perform the installation is emptyyou should select this menu.7

In the installation ofLinux-based operating system partitions that are typically used quite a lot that is /root, / boot, / home, / var, / usr and swap.After the partitioning process is done either automatically or manually, then the nextprocess is the selection of Boot Loader.Boot loader is the first software that runs when the computer was first turned on. Redhat 9provides two software boot loader is GRUB and LILO.10

Firewall ConfigurationHere is provided 3 levels of security• HighThis security level only allows connections in accordance with defult settings sothat only can connect with the DNS replies and DHCP• MediumLevel mediium provide limitations in connection to a particular source system.• No FirewallSelection No firewall security level can be done if it is satisfied that systems arein a network that can be trusted.• TimingThe timing must be done for the time indicated on the computer accordingto the place where the computer is placed.Figure 25. In this process required setting the root password (administrator).This process is very important in network operating systems because only at thislevel of total access rights can be done.12
