1. TrueTouch™ Touchscreen Solutions Cypress, the leader in capacitive touch sensing solutions, is revolutionizing the touchscreen market. Cypress’ TrueTouch™ Touchscreen Solutions, powered by PSoC® Programmable-System-on-Chip technology, offer unmatched flexibility and the broadest portfolio available. The projected capacitive TrueTouch Solutions give designers a choice between different usage models, different touchscreen vendors and different LCD vendors. They also enable designers to accommodate last minute changes -- something no other touchscreen product can deliver.
2. Technology A touchscreen is a display that responds to user input based on touching a point or points within the display. The transparent nature of the touchscreen enables wonders in user interface design as the user directly interacts with the varied content within the display. From single-touch and multi-touch gestures to multi-touch all-point (simultaneously interpreting any number of independent points on the screen), users can now manipulate many more functions easily and intuitively. Because of its best in class optical clarity, damage resistance, and its cost-effective multi-touch capability, projected capacitive touchscreen stands out as the best touchscreen technology. Cypress's TrueTouch™ Touchscreen solution is based on projected capacitive technology.

4. Projected capacitance creates an electrostatic field above the sensing surface to determine inputs. This format requires the use of patterned ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) and requires no calibration. As shown below, ITO is deposited in a pattern on one or two substrates in an XY grid. The TrueTouch Touchscreen Controller senses each ITO row and column and then analyzes the data to determine finger position. It can sense through thick overlays and support true multi-touch detection and gesturing, making it ideal for small form factor screens.
