Where they are found The hippopotamus is semi-aquatic, inhabiting rivers and lakes in sub-Saharan Africa in groups of 5-30 hippos.
What they eat In the wild, a hippopotamus will keep an herbivorous diet, feeding on aquatic plants, soft short grass and fallen fruits. On rare occasions, a Hippopotamus will eat small or injured animals.
