Graduation Project Presentation - Design of Web Based E-learning as an Assist Tool in Technical Drawing Lab Work - Presentation Transcript

    1. root@wheeqo.web.id:~ # attention please relax in your seat and enjoy the show
    2. presented by: Final Project INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT IT TELKOM 2008 2
    3. Chapter 1 INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI TELKOM There are two fundamental equalizers in life – the Internet and education. 3
    4.  Education + IT  E-learning  Lab Work (< 8 hours) vs. AutoCAD certification (32 hours) Source: Autodesk Authorized Training Center  Limitation on Lab Work:  Visualization  Time  Geographic We need to bring learning to people instead of people to learning. 4
    5.  Research on e-learning:  US Navy  44 % higher skills improvement  California State University  20 points higher The best learning happens in real life with real problems and real people and not in classrooms. 5
    6.  How to design the e-learning  How to evaluate the implementation  Design of e-learning  E-learning evaluation e-Learning operates in real time. You get what you need, when you need it. 6
    7.  For lab work students:  Increase user knowledge  Learn anytime and anywhere  For assistant  Teach a lot of users at one time  For other students  Introduce AutoCAD to other students E-learning enables the enterprise. E-learning builds enterprise learning communities. 7
    8.  E-learning security (server, web, & network)  E-learning organization  E-learning cost  Evaluation  Module 1 & 2  Psychology of user  DFD  content & user data The basic economic resource is no longer capital, nor natural resources, not labor. It is and will be knowledge 8
    9. Chapter 3 INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI TELKOM The biggest obstacle to innovation is thinking it can be done the old way. 9
    10. Lab Work Subject • Interactive Tutorial • Practice • Quiz Front-end User: Web- Back-end User: • Lab Work Students based E- • Assistant • Other Students learning • Module 1 - 4 • Forum • Download wheeqo.web.id • Chat 10

    12. Chapter 4 INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI TELKOM Learning is not compulsory ... neither is survival. 12
    13.  Time limitation:  From feedback  Comparison with other AutoCAD training  Inflexible schedule  Bad visualization  The need of real-time information  Not scalable When science and creativity unite to innovate 13
    14.  Functional:  Accessed anytime and anywhere  Clear visualization  2-way communication, directly and indirectly  Content:  Lab work module  Informative and procedural  Media:  Flash interactive animation The objective is obvious:  Web based To be a smart and better system 14
    15. Lab work students Assistants Other students 15
    16. Chapter 5 INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI TELKOM Knowledge is sticky. Without systematic processes and enablers, it won’t move. 16
    17.  Fast  Ged. C  Slow  Hotspot  24% failure attempt  Up to 2 minutes to open file (1.25 MB)  Fluctuation access speed We Innovate Every Bytes at Dayeuhkolot Cyber-Tech Valley 17
    18. Browser Success Fail Internet Explorer 7 11 times 3 times Mozilla Firefox 2.0.11 10 times 4 times Content File Size IE 7 FF 2.0.11 Editing Tools 1.225 KB 2 minutes 8 seconds 2 minutes 6 seconds Membuat Arsiran 1.187 KB 13 seconds 1 minute 5 seconds Layer 1.103 KB 16 seconds 1 minute 8 seconds Koordinat dan Line 565 KB 5 seconds 45 seconds Membuat Lingkaran 652 KB 8 seconds 32 seconds Membuat Arc 559 KB 22 seconds 6 seconds Zoom dan Pan 874 KB 13 seconds 37 seconds Membuat Polygon 503 KB 16 seconds 9 seconds Latihan 1 450 KB 1 minute 33 seconds 7 seconds 18
    19.  User vs. non user in same module 1:  Higher mean (34.4 vs. 33.1) but…  T-test: | thit | < ttabel  not significant  The same goes to module 2.  The same user in different module  Module 1 & 2  use EL ; Module 4  didn’t use EL.  Still: higher mean but not significant Simple, elegan, & effective - a good presentation 19
    20.  Direct try tutorial in application  Higher intensity  higher score Your only limit, is your own imagination 20
    21. 60 50 Very Low 40 Low 30 Enough 20 High 10 Very High 0 takmod1 takmod2 21
    22.  Pros:  Web platform use open-source  Open the tutorial from browser or download  Easy content update & unlimited development  Can integrate many media  Cons:  No user performance monitoring  Expensive animation software  Lack of alternative media  Absolute URL 22
    23. Chapter 6 INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI TELKOM Defining the question is a whole lot more important than figuring out the answers. 23
    24.  E-learning is a complement  Value added:  Access anytime and anywhere  Better visualization  Easy content update and unlimited development  Better knowledge improvement but with condition: try it directly!  Overall : good and useable enough Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other 24
    25.  For future development:  Provide alternative media  Provide another way of teaching  Decrease the time of tutorial  Web platform migration to new platform  For institution:  Upgrade network  Upgrade server It’s not about searching; it’s about finding 25

    27.  Web based  Clear visualization n interactive  Direct and indirect communication  Access anytime and anywhere A knowledge strategy needs to have a broad base. It must be embedded in how the organization works and creates value. 27
    28.  Chapter 1 : 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5  Chapter 3 : 1 | 2  Chapter 4 : 1 | 2  Chapter 5 : 1 | 2 | 3 | 4  Chapter 6 : 1 | 2  Direct Try – Score Chart  Access Performance Table 28
