Slide 3: Preface Most people believe that almost all our actions are carried out consciously. It is, however, our unconscious behavior that preserves a natural flow of action. Human beings intuitively discover what is of value in their environments and try to become harmonious with it. That sequence of unconscious discovery and adjustment in turn produces behavior. Jane Fulton Suri, the leader of the “human factors” group at IDEO, called all those intuitive ways people adapt, exploit, and react to thing in our environment, as “thoughtless acts”, things we do without really thinking. In this workshop, we will observe and analyze this phenomenon in “Dihua” street, a time honored traditional marketplace and district in Taipei city. We Begin with a close look at the reality of life, knowing others' preconceptions and one's own preconceptions. An infinite number of design elements are dissolved in the environment, making things by converting the infinite phenomena suggested by the environment to design values. We worked to notice those "things we knew but had not noticed" and to dissolve them into actual designs and “reinvent the ordinary” as well.
