Travels In Australia Day 1 - Presentation Transcript

    1. Travels in Australia Toowoon Bay, Shelly Beach and The Entrance, New South Wales
      • We have come to Australia to visit Adele and John. Adele is Wendy’s daughter. Australia is a very, very long way away from England. It takes a long, long time to fly to Australia.
      • Toowoon Bay: on our very first morning in Australia we wake up early and sit at the dining table watching the birds in Adele and John’s garden.
      What do we see?
    2. We see bright pink Galahs
    3. … red, blue, yellow and green Rosellas
    4. … and Rainbow Lorikeets
    5. We even see a Kookaburra perched on the clothes dryer
      • Amazing! We can’t believe that the garden is full of such brightly coloured birds.
Did you spot a bird that we see in our gardens in England? I wonder how it managed to travel all the way to Australia? These birds are called crested pigeons. They are not very colourful.
      • After breakfast we decide to go down to the beach
    6. Footsteps! Is Wendy the only person on the beach?
      • We walk along and find this Puffer Fish washed up on the sand.
      • … then we see some men who are surfing the waves.
      • … later we see families on the beach
      • John and Adele meet us at Shelly Beach. They decide to go in the sea.
      • Shelly Beach is very popular with swimmers and surfers. Can you see the lifeguard lookout tower?
    7. In the afternoon we walk along the beach to The Entrance.
      • … the pelicans have gathered on the lake
      • … this one has found a very good lookout post. Can you see where this pelican is perching?
      • Now we know what they are waiting for. We are just in time to see the pelicans being fed. They are fed every afternoon at 3pm.
      • When we get home the Galahs are still feeding in the garden
      • … and John is washing his Ute .
      • We have had a really good day and we look forward to seeing more of Australia tomorrow.
