  • 2.  Practitioners will be able to identify: ◦ signs of burnout in college students ◦ have the ability to assess the level of burnout ◦ learn procedures to prevent college stress burnout.
  • 3.  At the conclusion of this workshop practitioners should be able to: ◦ Identify signs of a college student on brink of burnout or habits which could create burnout ◦ Assess the level of potential burnout the student may be at ◦ Administer education on to prevent burnout and tips for prevention
  • 4.  Name that sign!!! Presenter will identify a sign and someone in the class will raise their hand and identify if the sign is either a sign of burnout or a habit which could lead to burnout. This activity will make the students aware of habits which could lead to burnout as well as the early signs. Each correct answer will win a piece of candy.
  • 5.  Too large course load  Complete boredom  Inability to concentrate  Pessimistic  Too little sleep  Continual lower grades  detachment  No free time  Too little social interaction  Loss motivation  Continual lack of energy  Lowered immunity to disease  Impossible requirements  Bad fit for major
  • 6.  Early Signs of Burnout ◦ Loss of motivation ◦ Continual lack of energy ◦ Complete boredom ◦ Inability to concentrate ◦ Continually lower grades ◦ Detachment ◦ Lowered immunity to disease  Mistakes That Lead to Burnout ◦ Too large course load ◦ Too little sleep ◦ No free time ◦ Too little social interaction ◦ Impossible requirements ◦ Bad fit for major ◦ Pessimistic

  • 8.  15-18 No sign of burnout here  19-32 Little sign of burnout here, unless some factors are particularly severe  33-49 Be careful – you may be at risk of burnout, particularly if several scores are high  50-59 You are at severe risk of burnout – do something about this urgently  60-75 You are at very severe risk of burnout – do something about this urgently
