    16. IN CASE YOU COULDN’T READ THAT…
      • The Green Bus is back in Minnesota after a cross-country bus tour for mental health fairness!
      • From Saint Paul to Madison, Chicago, Cleveland and Pittsburgh our rallies drew big crowds, great press coverage, and powerful speakers. Although our Washington DC rally was postponed due to the funeral activities for former President Reagan, the bus trip was a rousing success!
      • We met hundreds of volunteers, supporters and advocates who continue to work tirelessly to end discrimination against people suffering from mental illness. The tour not only gathered nationwide grassroots support for the Wellstone Act, it also renewed our commitment to getting this legislation passed. Too many Americans are affected by treatable mental illness. This is not an issue of partisan politics; it's an issue of fairness and discrimination.
      • We're close to getting a vote in the Senate. Momentum is on our side and the next four weeks are critical.  Here are two things you can do to help pass the Wellstone Act.
      • Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper: This is a great way to communicate with your community.
      • Call your Senator: We've made a lot of calls, but we can still make more! Senators do keep track of calls and monitor the issues that are important to their constituents. Use the free mental health parity hotline at 1-866-PARITY-4.
      • The powerful insurance lobby is working hard to defeat the Wellstone Act.
      • The Associated Press recently reported that insurance companies last year spent $13 million as part of their lobbying efforts to defeat the legislation.   To read the article, click here . We cannot allow the insurance companies to define this issue!
      • Thanks - The action you take makes a difference!
      • Thanks to the hundreds of members who supported the bus tour by "Sponsoring a Mile" of the trip and to the thousands of people across the country who continue to fight for those who don't have a voice!
