    6. What does this source tells you why the Adnan bin saidi and the Malay regiment had a fierce fight against the Japanese? This picture of  the Men of the Malay Regiment, recruited from local native volunteers, at bayonet practice on Singapore Island, October 1941. Source Based Question 1
    7. Answer:
      • From the picture, we can infer that the soldiers of the Malay Regiment are mainly made up of volunteers. I know this as the caption under the picture said that “the Men of the Malay Regiment, recruited from local native volunteers were recruited from local native volunteers.” This tells me that the regiment is strong as the men that forms up the regiment were volunteers as they want to protect their own country. This explains why the Malay Regiment had a fierce battle against the Japanese at Bukit Chandu and refuses to give up till the very end.
      • Also, the picture shows the soldiers from Malay regiment practicing . This shows that the soldiers are keen to defend their own country .We can also see that the Soldiers of the Malay regiment are very united and have a strong team spirit. We know this as the picture show them practicing TOGETHER.
    8. Source-based question 2: Tan Sri Dato’ Mubin Sheppard, an ex-officer and former POW, says of his friend the late Lieutenant Adnan: “ He was heavily outnumbered by the Japanese…they bombed him but he fought on fiercely and inflicted heavy losses on them…. Adnan would have never surrendered under any circumstances . He was absolutely dedicated . In fact, just before fighting, he adopted a motto for his platoon, ‘Biar putih tulang, jangan putih mata’ - death before dishonor.” What does this tells you about Adnan Bin Saidi? Taken from :http://web.singnet.com.sg/~nainz/malayregiment.html

Thus, this strive the soldiers of the Malay Regiment to fight the Japanese and for their country till they die. This motto that Lieutenant Adnan set for the them are still remembered in POWs and many others who suffered from the war.
    10. Other possible answers
      • This source tells us that Lieutenant Adnan is a leader that is very determined .I know this as the source said that “ Adnan would never surrender under any circumstances”. From this source, we can see that to protect his country and he does not give up even if the Japanese torture him to force him to surrender to them .Thus, we know that he was a determined leader.
    11. How do we know whether the answer is accurate?
      • We need to use PEEL-Give the main point ,followed by evidences, remember to elaborate and link back to the main point.
      • Do planning for the questions in any form, such as mind map.
    12. Why we decided to present the documentary in this way?
      • We are interested in Adnan Bin Saidi as we had little knowledge on him.
      • He is a good role model for us to learn from. From his determined spirit to his love for his country ,we are very sure that it would be interesting for us to present a documentary on him.
      • It would be very challenging for us.
      • We want to know how much a person know about Elizabeth Choy, what she did for the British during the Japanese Occupation and who she is .
