  • WORLD CLASS TALENT “Creating an online engagement tool in partnership with one of the world’s largest sports organisations” SETTING THE SCENE Big League Analysis (BLA) secured a partnership with MLB.com, the digital arm of Major League Baseball (MLB), to develop the MLB.com Digital Academy. MLB.com is a top 500 global website. The agreement with BLA was to create tools that educate and create enthusiasm for the game of baseball at the youth level. The brief was clear – Create an engaging online tool set that directly benefits users and interacts with their physical actions on the field during coaching sessions. THE CHALLENGE The key challenge involved creating a user friendly platform that made it quick and fun to upload and map a swing video on the website. At the same time, the system’s back-end needed to fully automate the online process, analysing the uploaded video before providing a detailed and personalised summary report to the player or coach. THE SOLUTION 1. Swing Analysis - Users are able to upload a video of their swing and the user friendly interface breaks down the amateur swing in comparison to a chosen MLB superstar. 2. Online Club House - Users can access their videos, a practice planner tool, an online magazine and a fun baseball game. 3. Coaches Corner - Extra online tools help coaches review their whole team’s performance. 4. A transactional system - Allows users to purchase 'MLB.com/digitalacademy Tokens' via Spree Commerce. • WORLD CLASS TALENT THE RESULTS After an intensive, four-month build process, Webonise delivered the complete and functional tool on time, on spec. and on budget. Upon go-live, the system was an instant success with the MLB.com online community, and over 6,000 swings were analysed in the first six-months. Phase 2 of the project is now well underway with the development of the “MLB.com Digital Academy – Pitch Analysis” Contact Do you need support with any web or mobile development? Andy Letts, UK Business Development Manager andy.letts@weboniselab.com +44(0) 7867 425331 SUMMARY Another exciting, interesting and technically challenging project conceptualised, designed and delivered by Webonise! http://www.mlbdigitalacademy.com/ FUTURE PROJECTS Given Webonise's partnership with Big League Analysis (BLA), MLBdigitalacademy.com continues to grow. This quarter, we are launching the myPitch analysis tool (similar to myHits) as well as new improvements to the platform to make video uploading and editing a faster user experience. In addition we are planning on a Coach education platform that will keep coaches educated and promote safety.
