Govdex – Government Data Exchange <ul><ul><li>An initiative of the Australian Government’s 2006 e-Government Strategy , Responsive Government: A New Service Agenda launched 30 March 2006 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>A secure online resource that facilitates collaboration between agencies and across jurisdictions as part of the vision of a connected and responsive government by 2010 through: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>– meeting users’ needs </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>_ establishing connected service delivery </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>_ achieving value for money </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>_ enhancing public sector capability </li></ul></ul>

Govdex <ul><li>Managed and operated by Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) in the Department of Finance and Deregulation </li></ul><ul><li>A free to use service for Australian Government Departments and Agencies </li></ul><ul><li>Secure to IN-CONFIDENCE level and is hosted on a secure Defence Signals Directorate (DSD) certified server </li></ul><ul><li>GovDex PROTECTED product in the future </li></ul><ul><li>All staff working on GovDex security assessed at a minimum to a provisional level of security of PROTECTED </li></ul>

Technology <ul><li>Software Commercial Wiki product Confluence – Atlassian Commercial issue manager product called JIRA – Atlassian Single Sign-on Framework (SSO) – open source product CAS and Open LDAP Registry & Repository product - open source implementation of the OASIS ebXML registry specification </li></ul><ul><li>Physical Hosting Production - Macquarie Telecom's Intellicentre Data Centre in DSD certified gateway </li></ul><ul><li>Updating Hardware to increase capacity to meet demand </li></ul>

Collaborative Workspace <ul><ul><li>Basically a Wiki sitting in a secure web session – calendar, discussion forum, task manager, issue manager, etc. Continually evolving </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>2243 registered users and 110 communities across all levels of government, national and international </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Content, access control, and management by client community administrators </li></ul></ul>

Registry <ul><ul><li>The GovDex Registry contains existing technical components that can be used for government projects </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Users search for, find and download technical components from this registry, and if appropriate, can seek to publish their own components for use by others </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>A library of reusable information components, e.g. Business Process Models, XML Schema, Syntax Standards </li></ul></ul>

Tools and Methods <ul><ul><li>GovDex provides tools and methods for developing standard information and process models </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Also used for deploying these models as standardised Web Services </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Government Information Exchange Methodology etc </li></ul></ul>
