Web Advertising & Development Surpasses all Expectations in Blackburn<br />The Internet Advertsing Bureau (IAB) released figures showing that of the total £1.75bn spent on internet advertising, £1.05bn, or 60%, was spent on search engine marketing on websites, companies who offer a Pay per click system of advertising, such as google, yahoo and bing.<br />The UK has become the first major economy where advertisers spend more on internet advertising than on TV , with a record £1.75bn, online spend in the first six months of the year.The UK is not the first country where internet ad spend has overtaken TV spend, Denmark reached the milestone  about six months ago. However Denmark has a smaller domestic  advertising market compared to that of the UK<br />It has taken the internet less than 10 years to become the biggest  advertising sector in the UK.<br />Back in 1998, when the IAB first measured internet advertising, just £19.4m was spent online. The search engine Google has been the main beneficiary of the online marketing Boom, taking a lions share of all search marketing spends.<br />The breakdown of the facts show that Online classified advertising grew by 10.6% year on year to £385m,But online display advertising, such as banners fell by 5.2% year on year, to £316.5m. <br />Some say that the market in Advertising online has peaked, however Social Media Sites Facebook and Myspace are preparing to make an impact, there may yet be room for growth!<br />
