Weekly news from WCUMC Nov. 25 2012

  1. 1. Weekly News from WCUMC-11/25/2012Sharing the transforming love of Jesus, across the street and around the world. "Thanks-Living - Love and Hate" Our Youth Director, Kim Knudsvig, shared some of the things that Godloves and God hates. In Proverbs 6:16-19, we are told that "There are six things the Lordhates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out liesand a person who stirs up conflict in the community."But God also hates the loneliness we feel when our sin and complacencydistance us from Him. Even when we feel distant from God, God is notdistant from us. These words in Pauls letter to the Romans assures usthatGod is always with us "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor anypowers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, willbe able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus ourLord."We know that God loves us because he sent His only Son to bear theburden of our sins, but he also wants us to love others in the same waythat he love us.This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent hisSon as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so lovedus, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:10-11For we are God’s masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus to do goodworks, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
