  • 1. Weekly News from WCUMC-1/27/2013Sharing the transforming love of Jesus, across the street and around the world. "Reconciled People of Christ" Basic Training for Followers of ChristIn our human condition, we were once separated from Christ. Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth andcalled “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision”(which is done in the body by human hands) remember that at that timeyou were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel andforeigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and withoutGod in the world.. Ephesians 2:11-12But through his mercy, we are all (Jew and Gentile) reconciled as onewith Christ because of the cross. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been broughtnear by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has madethe two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall ofhostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands andregulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity outof the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both ofthem to God through the cross, by which he put to death theirhostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away andpeace to those who were near. For through him we both have access tothe Father by one Spirit.. Ephesians 2:13-18
  • 2. We are Gods accomplishment -- one family, one nation, fellowcitizens with Gods people.Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellowcitizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built onthe foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himselfas the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined togetherand rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too arebeing built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by hisSpirit.
