  • 1. Weekly News from WCUMC-1/20/2013Sharing the transforming love of Jesus, across the street and around the world. "Made Alive In Christ" Basic Training for Followers of ChristOnce we were disobedient to Gods will. We did whatever felt goodand whatever we wanted to do. We were headed for punishment. At one time you were like a dead person because of the things you didwrong and your offenses against God. You used to act like most peoplein our world do. You followed the rule of a destructive spiritual power. This is the spirit of disobedience to God’s will that is now at work inpersons whose lives are characterized by disobedience. At one time youwere like those persons. All of you used to do whatever felt good andwhatever you thought you wanted so that you were children headed forpunishment just like everyone else. Ephesians 2:1-3But God is merciful and He loved us. He brought us to life and raisedus up with Christ. However, God is rich in mercy. He brought us to life with Christ whilewe were dead as a result of those things that we did wrong. He did thisbecause of the great love that he has for us. You are saved by God’sgrace! And God raised us up and seated us in the heavens with ChristJesus. 7 God did this to show future generations the greatness of hisgrace by the goodness that God has shown us in Christ Jesus. You aresaved by God’s grace because of your faith.d This salvation is God’s gift. It’s not something you possessed. It’s not something you did that youcan be proud of.
  • 2. Ephesians 2:4-9We are Gods accomplishment. We are created in Christ to do goodthings. The Holy Spirit empowers us to do good things for Godsglory.Instead, we are God’s accomplishment, created in Christ Jesus to dogood things. God planned for these good things to be the way that welive our lives. Ephesians 2:10We are not saved by faith plus good works, but by a faith that works.Live the Joy of Jesus knowing that God is with you and empoweringyou.Next week: "Reconciled People of Christ", Ephesians 2:11-22.
