Weekly News from WCUMC-5/19/2013Sharing the transforming love of Jesus, across the street and around the world.Holy Spirit LivingPentecost SundayThe only way we can be witnesses in our world is when we havereceived power as the Holy Spirit comes upon us!Jesus promised that He would send the Holy Spirit…Acts 1:8“… you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria,and to the end of the earth.”Prophecy was fulfilled on that day of Pentecost.God’s promise of the Holy Spirit is for all people who submit theirlives to Him.Acts 2:21, 39And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.This promise is for you, your children, and for all who arefar away—as many as the Lord our God invites. ”The Fruit of the SpiritGalatians 5:22-23

Both Paul andMargaret pioneered treatments for patientssuffering from leprosy, Paul in the field oforthopedics and Margaret specializing in the eyediseases related to leprosy.They did all this while raising an adventurousgroup of six children, and they remainedhumble about their accomplishments, giving thecredit to God for all that occurred. Margaret and Paul finished theircareers in Carville, Louisiana and retired to Seattle in the 1980’s. Paulwent to be with the Lord in 2003. Margaret lives in Covenant Shoresretirement complex on Mercer Island. She is excited that her story is

A greatopportunity to invite non-Christians to a non-threatening churchsponsored event!Dungeness Spit Kayaking-Hiking-Camping Trip - Friday-Sunday, June14-16th,We camp at Dungeness Recreation area near Sequim, Washington onFriday and Saturday nights (we have some camping equipment fornewbies). On Saturday, half our group kayaks to the lighthouse at theend of the spit while the other half hikes out (about 5 miles). Then weswitch off and the other half kayaks back while the kayakers hike back -a full body work out in a beautiful location. Sunday we breakcamp and have an outdoor worship service overlooking the Strait of Juande Fuca.Afterwards for those interested, we will go see the animals at theOlympic Game Farm. Warning, this is no zoo. You really get up close andpersonal with buffaloes and other impressive animals (like GrizzlyBears!). Then it’s back home on the ferry.Cost: $20 per person (includes 2 nights camping and use of the kayaks),plus ferry fees. Olympic game farm charges $11 per adult. This is a verypopular trip so sign up soon in the narthex. Unfortunately because of thecost involved, we are asking people to put down a $10 deposit to reserveyour spot.

We are also thankful forthe generous donation of bread from Panera and Franz.
