  • 1. Weekly News from WCUMC-9/16/2012Sharing the transforming love of Jesus, across the street and around the world. "Being the Salt and Light of Jesus to Our World"“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, howcan it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except tobe thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world.A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lampand put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it giveslight to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shinebefore others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify yourFather in heaven." Matthew 5:13-16This weeks service was a reminder that we are called to show the worldour Christian faith. To live as a Christian is to love . . . and it shows inour faces if we are following Christ with genuine commitment. We are to let our light shine before others, not at them.As Rick closed his sermon today, he shared a video of Jena Lee Nardella, executive director of Blood: Water Mission, a non-profit missionary groupserving in Africa. Her prayer for our nation and its leaders (bothDemocrat and Republican) is an inspiration to us all, and a greatexample of being "salt and light to our world". You can view her closingprayer on YouTube by clicking on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VSJvYo6u2M
