  • 2. Early Life  Born on November 2, 1755 Daughter of Maria Theresa, arch-duchess of Austria and Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor. Fifteenth child of sixteen Did not study specific academics Spent days surrounded by music, dancing, comedic theatre, and animals

  • 4. Becoming Queen  Arranged marriage to marry Louis XVI, made by Louis XV Married oldest son of the King of France Wedding occurred on May 16, 1770 at the Royal Chapel in Versailles Marie was only 14 years old Louis XV died of smallpox on May 10, 1774, making Marie queen.

  • 7. Storming of the Bastille  Bastille was stormed on July 14, 1789 Stormed by peasants of France Peasants felt so much power that they stormed Versailles, forcing the royal family to move Louis, Marie, and their family fled Paris, but were captured by authorities and imprisoned.

  • 9. Final Years  September of 1791- Louis agreed to create a French Constitution Marie attempted to convince Austria to intercede on the French monarchy’s behalf Resulted in National Assembly charging Louis with treason Louis was killed on January 21, 1793 and Marie became a widow
