What is a renewable energy resource

  1. 1. Renewable energy is energy which comes fromnatural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which arerenewable (naturally replenished).
  2. 2. Solar Panels capture the energy and helpsconvert it to electricity.
  3. 3. Wind turn turbines to produce electricity.Wind mills have been used since 1180 AD
  4. 4. The impact of rain produces energyThe impact of each raindrop has the potential to produce energy.
  5. 5. Tidal action can produce energyThe ocean can produce thermal energy from thesuns heat and mechanical energy from the tidesand waves.
  6. 6. Geothermal energyCaptures the earth’s internal heat to produce many types of energy.
  7. 7. It is estimated less than 35 percent of the worldsenergy is produced by a renewable resource. Itis likely that as the world energy demandsincrease, so will the use of the many types ofrenewable energy producers.
